As a business owner myself I've learned that people seem to have an incredible amount of gripes once they're no longer employed at the business. Theyre able to tell tall tales and not be held accountable for backing the statement up because theyre no longer employed at (my) business. Does this mean theyre all false? No, I definitely have come to learn good info from past employees who for whatever reason waited until they didnt work for me to let me know something quite pertinent to my business, but as a whole if its a legitimate grievance then they;d say it while it was impacting their day to day.

The accusations the guy made each on their own would be massive deals. If someone was rigging a private game I dont think it would be included in a long wall of text as some afterthought. Wouldnt that be front and center?
Pretty good post. The complaints do just seem like sour grapes from a former employee looking to lash out. Happens in all businesses, even the fairest most honest businesses have issues like this. It doesn't mean there is no truth to everything the ex-employee posted. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle. In this case I don't put much belief into the "whistleblower."

Without ever playing at the Lodge, from what others say in person at the poker tables, I've heard nothing but good things. So it seems they are doing a pretty good job over there, at least word of mouth wise. Doug also seems to be doing a really good job on the live stream, not an easy thing to accomplish based on watching some other try.

Not sure what Doug and the Crypto scam details are. But if it's just he was schilling / advertising for a crypto that went under and people lost money. That doesn't make Doug a scammer. There is a long list of celebrities with great reputations their whole lives who do business with companies that turn out to be scammers.... That does not make them scammers! Unless they knew it was a scam all along.

Doug is a complete liar and literally said repeatedly he saw no red flags with CoinFlex prior to resigning, despite video proof to the contrary. I think you would be shocked and appalled if you were aware of extent of Doug's bad-faith promotion of that scam. I won't dertail the thread with the long list of evidence but I would bet everything I own that Doug promoted CoinFlex in bad faith and was caught in multiple lies after the fact.

Have you ever seen a brand ambassador tell the CEO of the company they represent that they sound like a scammer? And then continue to promote the product? Well look no further!

Here it is again. The CEO tells people to invest all their money in stablecoins, and you proclaim that sounds like a scam. You keep claiming you ended the sponsorship at a responsible time, but that's a complete lie. It would have been ended the moment he said that if you actually cared about red flags. He owns a stablecoin product, and tells people to invest all their money in stablecoins. You going to insult our intelligence by saying that's not a red flag? He even says its "not a scam". Man that's bad luck for him that it went belly up so quick.

Mark: "...Looking at crypto, it's not a scam. It's amazing. You should build in the space. You should put all your money into stablecoin-related products. You should be thinking about devoting all your waking hours to crypto-related things."

Doug: "Always great to say something is not a scam, put all your money in it. That has never gone badly for people, and uh, you know, great advice here from Mark."

but Doug wasn't just schilling something he knows nothing about like a lot of athletes do. He even had a crypto youtube channel.
He's deeply invested in crypto and he's smart enough to know something promising a 10-15 percent return is a scam.

Yeah and he's smart enough to know it's wildly unethical to tell people to invest all their money into stablecoins, but continued to promote the company where the CEO was telling people to do that. This is an irrefutable fact. What happened to their stablecoin? It went to $0. This same stablecoin Doug tweeted it cannot depeg and go below $1 (he guaranteed this as brand ambassador). If you trust Doug, unfortunately, you are a sucker.

I'm not going to harass Doug by bringing up his CoinFlex scam repeatedly so I won't post anymore itt.

Good post. Funny.

Although not sure how much else Doug could have done on that short notice. Seemed like he took it serious and was all over it as much as could be. If he takes a couple days to write out an official statement with more details or something. People would complain it took him over a day to respond and say that shows guilt.

It's another classic NVG spot where we don't have the full story, no third party was there to report what really happened, and we just have to randomly decide who we think is more trustworthy. The disgruntled ex-employee always raises eyebrows when they talk about scandals, and the owner defending their company always looks like it's a PR move.

If it was such an obvious scam, then why are you blaming a brand ambassador? Are people not responsible for recognizing these “obvious scams“ before sending their money to these “obvious“ scammers?

Do you hang out on forums and blast Serena Williams for endorsing Gatorade as a healthy drink when it’s quite unhealthy? Or is it the consumer’s responsibility to read the label and realize that it’s obviously not good for them?

But Gatorade has electrolytes.

This is very bad take though there’s endorsing morally questionable companies like Gatorade and there’s enabling outright fraud like lock poker ftx Enron and coin flex. If you can’t tell the difference I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t think you followed the situation either. His handling of it when criticized before its collapse was abysmal (didn’t he offer to take a bet they’d never go insolvent on twitter and when people wanted to take him up on it he weaseled out) and he’s never addressed his role properly/apologized afterward (which I’d imagine legal advice is encouraging him strongly not to but still not a good look and often what he criticized others for or less in the past).

There’s more that makes this terrible as well. He had a crypto channel on YouTube at the time and was trying to establish himself as a crypto guru while cashing in on an obvious scam endorsement. The fact that he acts as a victim after all this stuff and is so defensive when he literally made a career as a personality about calling others out for this for way less serious offenses is as ironic/hypocritical as you can get as well.

Last night the Lodge had more viewers than HCL for High Stakes friday. I feel like this is pretty significant.

I also think the lodge has surpassed HCL in the amount of characters i want to watch.

I always assumed that he took all the money he scammed off his pleebs that follow his every word and bought into The Lodge. Why would you spend your own money on such a venture when you could fleece it off your flock of sheeple?

Presumably he won a lot HU in the day, and his video etc. site maybe makes money. You could say he was hustling playing HU and cheating people who bought Upswing products. However, I don't see how it wasn't his own money. Also, it may not take a lot to buy a stake in a poker room than doesn't even have other gambling.

Exactly. These same internet idiots would be blaming Patrick Mahomes if State Farm denies their claim or something.

Why is Doug always considered this genius or super amazing player, because he used to be a great heads up player 20 years ago lol?

Not hating at all i'm just genuinely asking the question as to why hes considered this super trustworthy figure of poker and now business ventures? Everything i remember over the years on here are him pumping some sorta businesses that didn't exactly have the greatest outcomes or reviews on here. Just watching the recent few streams or shorts i've seen are of him is losing these huge pots and just pulling out like 300k more to reload like they are dollar chips... Maybe hes crushing everything and raking in money nonstop but something just seems strange i guess. But i am curious why everyone thinks of him still as this amazing player and heads up god?

Sorry, I missed the part where Mahomes had a YouTube channel named “Patrick Mahomes insurance” built exclusively on trashing others presenting himself as holier than thou, while his video editor was putting dildos in Geicos employees mouth. But other than that, good analogy!

It’s almost like there’s varying degrees of endorsement that have varying levels of responsibility. Weird. Saying something is fully collateralized when it’s not and misleading investors is a lot different then I use State Farm for my insurance they’re awesome!
