So is there any way to completely secure a laptop?

100% security is basically impossible, you can only get so far as to make it too complicated/expensive for the criminals to attack you. Even BIOS could be compromised, or the CPU firmware.

The most reasonable setup would be to boot Windows from a hard disk or CD that you always carry around with you. They would at least need to compromise the BIOS to attack that, and it would likely be noticeable. Secure your BIOS with a password for additional security (again, can be circumvented but you will notice)

Kind of unrelated... But speaking of bios, I remember one time my Toshiba asked me to update my bios and I hit OK, my computer then proceeded to completely break and go to a black screen. I then called Toshiba and they told me "oh, you shouldn't have clicked update you completely broke your laptop". Thanks Toshiba.

Stars also announced that they are going to continue to have the EPT at The Arts when, as best as we can tell, they are either incompetent or complicit.

Ept Barcelona is their most popular event and can only be held in the arts function room. No where else is legally allowed.

They already knew this last year. But they didn't care about protecting their guests, and the only location they can hold the event at. Serves them right to get heavy flak now.

Yes. Exactly. Pokerstars, the biggest operator of online poker blatantly trying to hide and avoid a very serious incident of attempted fraud/theft from one of its highest stakes player at their designated hotel.
Makes me wonder just how many other 'incidents' have been swept under the carpet. Scandalous.

But, we both know that the one that was supposed to play against you online never was in your hotel room. Why take the risk when you can pay someone who knows what he is doing. And I imagine its not to hard to pay a "poor" spanish hotelworker for help.
You just got lucky with the timing. You could just aswell been one of those victims loosing a lot of money this way and never knowing.

Evidence against him (the player) will be very hard to find and most probably no arrest. Case shuffed away.

A high-stakes player gets hacked. Pokerstars does nothing, even tries to cover it up. How much do you think will they care about you when **** hits the fan?

maybe I missed it. can someone explain why pokerstars has an obligation to do anything for an incident that happened to an individual's property in an empty hotel room. it should be up to the individual to file a report with the respective law enforcement where the crime occurred.

not that i am defending pokerstars but it doesn't make sense to me why posters on this forum think pokerstars is not doing enough for the crime. i feel for bad for what happened to the individual but it seems that he and many posters feel pokerstars owes him bringing the perpetrator to justice. the way i see it pokerstars owes him squat.
