Not sure if threadworthy, but on the June 2 episode of the standup comedian Doug Benson's popular podcast Doug Loves Movies (which can be a pretty entertaining listen if good people are on), Ali Nejad the announcer from PAD and NBCHU was on along with Kevin Pollack and Samm Levine (guy from freaks and geeks). All 4 of them play in a hollywood home game together and poker was discussed at length.
Some interesting tidbits: Ali says he might be out of a job b/c of black friday and they talk about how it was bs. Doug doesn't understand when Ali talks "advanced" poker at their home game and uses terms like "flop texture." They complain about lots of LA homegames having ridiculously high rake and that it is quite unfair for players in them.
They talked about poker movies too (mostly Rounders). Ali said he and most poker players don't like it because it is so unrealistic (think he is off on this, and that lots of poker players love it precisely because it's so ridiculous), citing stuff like the oreo cookie tell and matt damon knowing everyone's tell and exact holding in the limit game they were playing after a minute of observing.
A funny story from Rounders was told. After John Malkovich finished the first day of filming, the whole cast and crew gave him a standing ovation, and Malkovich leaned in close to Matt Damon and whispered "I'm a terrible actor."
