This whole thread feels like the real hacker is trying to set up this Justin person as a fall-guy. Either that or he's profoundly mentally ill.

Someone with a clean computer should try to video skype with him for confirmation.

Unfortunately I am only an expert in digital imaging, and not digital forensics, but I am sure the FBI already thought of this, right? They are smart guys.

If the FBI is involved, which is possible (hi FBI! ) ... they have software that can get a lot more info, just from a photo. Particularly one taken with a smartphone.

In my expert opinion, that photo was most likely taken from an iPad like device. The angle, is what suggests that to me. Not an iphone, but an ipad. Could be wrong, it's a poor angle regardless.

I think it is Justin. If not, then someone did a good job reading his twitter and maybe old facebook account, as well as all the information on him here and seems to have insight into his scams. Talks just like he would. The pictures seem to match too.

I mean Justin had a lot of the information here already attached to him...so he wouldn't be making Justin fall for any of that. It's possible that a person has been planning this for 3 years...but then I feel sad for that person lol.

You don't have access to the same kinds of digital forensics tools as the FBI. They are not some drunk dude, with CS3 ...finding a date modified.

Can that guy who said he was going to contact the FBI and whoever else just do that and put an end to this? If those authorities are involved would that help or hinder repayment of the victims?

As a matter of fact, I do, because I was working in that field, and I analyzed the image just in case.

My point was just that it's useless to keep wondering about that picture (among us), if any information can be obtained it has to be the FBI, since if there's an ongoing investigation they can just contact the hosting company and get the original.

I doubt it makes a difference. The guy has no money and what sounds like a minimum wage job, he can't pay back these figures. He'll make one or two monthly payments and stop communicating with everyone.
