I wish they would keep nevada out of our player pool until they allow huds. WSOP NJ allowed huds until the merge with nevada in 2018. WSOP PA isnt merged yet but never allowed storing HHs, mostly like since they planned on merging eventually.

Looks like Stars hasn't announced anything about Nevada. They could end up the only regulated site with stored hand histories soon.

Meanwhile there is most likely regs playing wsop with a hud using card catchers like they publicly available have for BOL/Ignition

Wow that's huge news. The pool should be a good size after that.

It might be a bit better, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. Cash should be ok I guess, but SNGs are still struggling across the board.

You hear all this puff about how michigan has access to 10 million potential players, but these sites need to do a lot more to bring them to the poker tables, not just the sports books/casino games.

Traffic still seems lite on WSOP and Betmgm gets around 500-ish at peak which is down from 800-900 when they were running SNG leaderboards in the beginning.

And when they offer big GTDs we really need to get as many people as we can to cover the overlay so sites are more comfortable offering more sizable GTDs in the future.

It would also help if MI, NV and elsewhere could get more skins. New Jersey has 3 skins for PartyPoker, we only have 1.

NV will likely never allow huds. Old men in suits that wouldn't know two pair from a straight flush know what's best for the populace. Sarcasm ofc

I don’t know if it’s as good a thing as people think, anyway. Ring fencing keeps the games softer IMO. I hope only WSOP does the interstate thing, or if other networks do join on make the shared pools MTTs only…

First they won’t do this and the cash games need more players too.

To your point, short term maybe especially keeping the Vegas pros out of the pools but longer term as more states join it’ll even out as newer player will start playing online again. It’s the best hopes for a semi poker boom and US only will be great!

I may just be traumatized from playing on ACR ... where tons of Eastern Euros play.

My main worry is there could be some sort of diminishing returns on the cash tables, where players just join active tables instead of making new ones ... so instead of say 10 tables (arbitrary #) in each of the 4 big states, you end up with 25 running and a higher ratio of regs to recs. I do create new tables in MI, especially when not enough are active to get in my volume or when they look extra shitty... but that does take time to get those tables started.

Really don't think we will see another poker boom without some kind of Chris Moneymaker type MTT result, but I hope it happens. A big prize and good story is needed to generate the buzz ... look at people lining up to buy Power Ball tickets when the "likely" EV of a pick is something like $0.16 for every $2.00. I know the EV is over $2 when the jackpot is really high, but the chance you will ever realize that EV is extremely slim to put it lightly... yet people just keep lighting their cash on fire because the buzz generated from the jackpot.

The only other thing I could think of would be some sort of player led organization running a constant and massive advertising campaign ... which might be possible to do on the cheap by someone with the know how.

Any news on this?

Any news on PA joining?

Seems like NY may happen in the next 12 months, which would be huge

This may be true for nl hold em and plo but for every other game the player pools (o8, stud8, ect) are in desperate need of expansion.

The update is some guy named Addabbo is working on it. Apparently he's trying to push it through in the 2024 budget which should be in like 2 months.

Here's the article I'm getting this info from:

https://www.bonus.com/news/work-begi...online-casino/

With how quick they got sportsbetting through, I'm actually more hopefully than I have been in the past. They are making pretty good revenue from sports, so hopefully they see this as an opportunity for more.

Yeah he's a proponent for gambling initiatives across the board lol. The sports betting revenue is a great boon to getting online poker across, my concern is they may table it to see how it goes opening the 3 full casinos in the city/boroughs first

Bad for Michigan players and bad for recs, games just got tougher, ring fenced games are way softer.

I know, seriously. I think we have a shot to get OP in 2023. Sadly, even if we do, I think 2025 is a decent estimate of when we could join an intrastate compact

So, after the update, NJ, MI, NV, and DE will all be in on player pool? Or just NJ and MI

There is no Poker Stars in NV. Nevada is still waiting for Michigan to join the WSOP pool. They haven't even updated to the new software that everyone else is using yet, and that is needed before the merger.

In order for PA to merge, the governor and gaming control board need to give the thumbs up. I don't expect PA to merge until sometime in 2024.
