I just received an email from support staff of the poker client that I use to grind , informing me that MPN will be discontinuing service of their poker client in 6-8 months time.

Apparently funds are ''safe'' which i somewhat believe to be true.

Any ideas why? I never thought they where losing money operating the site? maybe its a different issue?

The sky is falling for micro stakes grinders, as well as heads up players..... This is sad.......

Is there a reason you're not disclosing the name of the site?

Seems rather odd to me that a network would be spending time releasing integrity stats a day or two before they're telling skins that they're shutting everything down.

Not saying it isn't possible, but I'd like to see something a little more official first. Given that MPN has a forum on 2+2 (and this has been posted there as well), I'm sure we'll hear something soon enough.

Edit to add:

So presumably *something* is up, as if it was 100% fictitious, I wouldn't expect it to take more than a few minutes to deny it.

I wondered if it was going to be something like that - closing the network, poker continuing. There aren't many poker networks with lots of independently-owned skins any more, so this would appear to be a continuation of that trend.

Given the long time frame, one would assume they intend to be strategic about migrating players; time will tell how successful that will be.

Seems weird when they are making the new prima client that's suppoused to be the best client in the market. Well the new prima client sucks atm maybe they just decided it'll be easier to join another network. Perhaps unibet?

Yeah it's written here too that they'll likely join another network. http://www.rakerace.com/news/poker_r...poker_in_2020/

I can login and play with no problem now, but am I suppose to cash out most of my roll now or is it okay to keep in in the account?

I'm sad to confirm that we will be closing the network next year.

More details can be found here: https://mpn.poker/gg-mpn-wp/

The crucial point I'd like to get across is that it's really business as usual for us until the closure, which won't be until Q2/Q3 next year. There is no reason to be concerned about your funds and we'll be continuing with promotions etc, including the current Universal Championship of Poker which will play out as advertised.

Please direct any questions to us in our official thread here: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...hread-1718857/

If you play the biggest skins like betsson group pretty sure your money is safe. I don't believe that the network itself have the players funds.

Why do they have to join another network? It sounds to me like they're centralizing everything so that whatever players they are able to retain are their own players, which means they get all the revenue. Joining another network would be a step in the opposite direction.

No, it's written there that they believe some of the skins will join another network.

Well, no one can say for sure, but the article you linked suggests your money is fine, and Microgaming is saying this isn't happening for quite a while.

What sites are micro gaming and not part of the mpn network? I am confused on what is still going to be left since that post says they are not done with poker just the network?

Sounds like they're maybe planning to offer poker directly instead of using skins? Not sure how successful that would be, they have very poor software and they'd be losing any random casino/sportsbook fish.

I dont think they would fire all the skins to go independant and probably only get a fraction of the customers theyre use to......

I just think its a good time for them to get out of poker......

It seems like across the board, poker revenues are rapidly falling and sites are having to close or "restructure", cut rakeback, decrease rewards, not able to devote as much resources to catching cheaters/bots etc. Sad to see, but poker has been dying for a while now and things don't look good for the future.

I'd guess one reason for the "reorganization" of MPN is that 32Red is one of the components of the network, but it's a brand owned by the same parent company (Kindred) as Unibet.
Presumably, 32Red customers will be migrated to Unibet, thus forcing the remaining MPN skins to change the way they operate.

It does seem odd that they'd be straight up closing the poker side of things considering the investment they made into reworking the software.

Hopefully what it means is they plan to remove the skins and operate on its own. Tough to do but not impossible. If they currently have enough players (on skins) that enjoy the software/offerings the users might ditch their skins and go direct to MPN. With affiliates steering customers directly to MPN I think they should have enough revenue (now 100%-affiliates) to justify the operating costs. The expensive part was setting up the new software from scratch and presumably that's already accounted for.

Regardless they've made solid strides over the past year and earned some goodwill from players.

decided to fire up MPN session tonight.

seems the MPN staff have lost their minds.

UCOP#33 22Rebuy, has the option to Add on for 20k chips, well for some reason the Add on gave 200k chips, when starting stack was only 10k ( entry and Addon same price )

so now, there was meant to be 3.8m in play, but theres now 38m chips with the same blinds, so this tournament is gonna take a long time to end.

It makes more sense to you that they would be working on new software when they're about to shut it down, and that would be releasing integrity stats two days before announcing it?

It could well be more profitable to have a smaller number of their own players, then a larger pool on skins.

And the biggest flag to me is the timing. If they're just going to shut the product down, why on earth would they announce it almost a yeah ahead, and risk losing a lot of their traffic in the meantime? It would make more sense to continue like normal until much closer to their exit date. The only reason that makes sense to me to do it this far out is that they're hoping to retain a lot of the current players, while they're still in the ideal situation to promote to them. Far, far cheaper to retain players that are already on the network than it will be to recruit new ones.

If anyone cares, check the official mpn thread. Apparently mpn is NOT rebranding or becoming a standalone site. I believe Alex Scotts quote was "We are simply going away."
