They could have set a minimum number of hands. They did set something like you contact them, and they pay it back to you (if you got like no opponents). The site didn't succeed and moved under a small network.

Wouldn’t it be better to charge based on how many hands you played? That would also punish nits and be beneficial to high VPIP players.

I still think they should find a practical way to lower rake and instead tax withdrawals.

something that's always been really backwards in poker is nits paying less to play than high vpip players due to pot rake

but yes if players came to a site like this .. over time of course everybody would come adn it would become the new pokerstars

example.. craigslist
they took off with no advertising..

so it would happen.. everbody likes paying less money so thats the bottom line.. its just a matter of people playing there and over time it would catch on like wildfire if got big enough..

At times you guys are too smart for your own good. The punters these sites want barely understand what rake is or the implications. X made a million playing online poker, i can too. End of story

Someone should design a system where a fee is taken out of every pot. It wouldn't be as noticeable as a monthly fee, and it would appear as if only winners were paying it.

Fish I know get pretty mad at 3bets. Seems they might find games where regs will flat and overlimp more, more enjoyable.

I wouldn't expect them to understand the difference, just feel it with their 6th fish sense.

The $20 is just for the person who creates the table, anyone can sign up for a free account and access that table once they have the password. We have a fairly large group of regs in our local games so every chipped in a buck or two and it plays for itself. You get 50,000 in "free chips". You can see all of the private tables in the lobby and there are like 40 tables already. Table stakes range from .10/.20 all the way to 2/5 currently.
How many players can it support? Let's say you have 15-20 regulars. Do you pay for two tables?

It creates a barrier to entry for the people who just throw $10 online for some fun. The rake model is actually really good as it just naturally allows the house to take their share. The issue is when the model is abused an rake is insanely high
