Lol, what an absolute turd sandwich of a fluff piece this is. It focuses completely on poker tournaments and staking, and comes across more as a free ad for the various staking sites.

It presents everything with rose colored glasses, like poker staking for tournaments is just winning all the time for the investor and the player.

They make sure to show Jeff Gross winning online with Aces full and quad 10's because you know, that's just the way it is when you're a staked professional player.

And then this Lisa Costello chick they interview is 50K in makeup and only has 204K in cashes to her name (and since this piece aired she's cashed for a "whopping" 14K more). How you would stake someone with only 204K in cashes between 2011-2018 AND let them get 50K in makeup to you is beyond me, but sounds like shitty "investing"

The video completely ignores discussing the various pitfalls of poker staking, tournament variance, players who have leaks outside of poker, players who oversell themselves in staking arrangements and then make sure they bust to guarantee themselves a profit, players who welch on paying their backers when they do win or the fact that the vast majority of long-term pros are making their livings playing cash games and not higher-variance tournaments with all the associated travel expenses that go along with it.

Just google her pics. It's pretty obvious how you let her get 50k in makeup. The staker likely has some other intentions in mind

They either have terrible investing skills or low standards, I see nothing remotely attractive about her at all. She isn't even "poker hot"

In my business I get offers to have my business highlighted in an upcoming issue, which sounds great .. 'Business of the Month' so to speak. And then I find out I have to pay for this 'honor'.

Perhaps YouStake collaborated with CNBC to produce the piece .. if so, then they certainly would keep out most of the negative side of things. They did show the downside of ending a stake that isn't whole.

There is some 'variance' talk (without using the actual word), but I agree with you that it's not technically detailed out.

We all know it's been pretty difficult to produce poker content that the general public can wrap their hands around, IMO this piece did a pretty decent job for the timeframe. Could it have been better and/or more detailed, sure .. but then who would get to the end of it? Probably people that already know, which is not the point of getting this out there to show 'everyone' a little window. GL

Looks like this was first shown in May 2019 .. then it was re-highlighted under a different headline in August of 2019. Smells like 'fake' advertising to me.

So you are upset that they didn't portray poker as more of a degenerate bad investment to potential casual players? I too hate things that slow the death of a game I enjoy.

Forbes do this kind of crap as well, you can pay to be highlights. It's a way a lot of these forex/investing/lifestyle 'gurus' get exposure. Essentially they are enabling these idiots to scam people by legitimising their crap.

I tried to watch this video, from 2019 btw, but I was too loosey goosey while eating a sandwich to get the audio to work.

Cue the NVGtards claiming she's not hot, could've predicted this to a T.

She's a thin female under 45. You people have literally no clue how desperate the avg american, and particularly poker staker, male is

Plenty of dudes are attracted to ugly chicks because they're thin and perhaps "available"

Still doesn't make them "hot"

Honestly, have you ever been inside a poker room in America?
Now I'm not saying she's unreal or anything, but she would be the hottest woman in any room 99.99% of the time

Ok goalpost mover, look at my original post. Said nothing about her being hot. I explained why she was likely staked for so long.

I don't know about other rooms, but in Tampa she'd be a hag. We have a number of actually attractive females that play here

Honestly you kinda know its a farce or at least a promo for the staking site when it only talks about MTTs and barely talks about cash games. IMO its somewhat of an open secret in poker that MTTs are not a good way to make a living and anyone decent at poker is making pretty consistent money at cash games without all the headaches that come with MTTs.

What answer20 was talking about is in all likelihood what's going on.

Curious that the other player staked and interviewed that actually seems to be winning consistently, doesn´t mention even once the name of his stable/backer, or may be he did but they edited it out cuz the stable did not pay to get mentioned?
