When I was younger Mike’s commentary helped me to understand poker and fall in love with the game. RIP Mr. Sexton

RIP Mike. You accomplished a lot and you are most loved. What more could a man ask for, except maybe a few more years?

I played with Mike at various WSOP events and he was nothing but a gentleman.

An absolute class act.

A truly great ambassador for Poker.

Feels like the end of an era. Although Mike's involvement in poker certainly predates what is considered the "poker boom", without Mike there might not have even been a "poker boom". He was a driving force of launching Party Poker and then the surprising success of the WPT and its worldwide exposure to tournament poker.

Sure feels like the end of an era in someway. RIP Mike. Well done, you will never be forgotten.

RIP Mike You are the G.O.A.T

Crazy that he passed on the final day of the WSOP. Heaven must have needed a poker player

RIP Mike! A huge part of my childhood. While I started by watching the WSOP, it was from the WPT and Mike where I learned strategy.

Every Wednesday Night on the Travel Channel!!!

Man I miss those days.

Hi Everyone:

If anyone heard my quick call-in to Mike Madasow's show the story I told was about how the frenzy Mike Sexton helped to create broke Gambler's General Store's computer system which they needed to sell books and all their other products. This occurred after I made a deal with them to split the cost of an ad on a World Poker Tour Show way back in May of 2003.

Most people think the poker boom began when Moneymaker won the WSOP, but that's not true. It began several months earler when Mike Sexton and the WPT Tournaments began their broadcasting on April 30, 2003. That was the power of Mike Sexton (and VInce Van Patton also helped along with the other people associated with the early WPT shows). I'm also sure that many of you who read these forums probably began to play poker because of Mike.

I know he was good friends with a lot of people and you only heard positive things about him. He's left a great legacy and will be missed by many.

Best iwshes,
Mason

Thanks for bringing all of us here into poker. There is no poker boom without Mike Sexton’s role in the WPT and Party Poker.

Rest In Peace

People, let us not forget, if there was not a Mike Sexton there would’ve been no Party Poker. No Party Poker means there would’ve been none of those epic videos by Tuff Fish, who will probably be the guy to greet Sexton upon arrival.

Mike Sexton is one of the reasons I play poker to this very day. Nothing like getting home from school, getting a $5-10 tourney going with the boys at night while watching a WPT event on TV.

RIP.

Terrible news. His name and voice has been synonymous with the word poker for as long as I've been playing. Its a shame he had to leave and my thoughts go out to his family but he managed to leave some legacy behind him.

Such a sad day.
Although Mike was the ambassador at Party Poker, he transcended just Party.
He added value to all poker sites. Full Tilt, PokerStars, GG and everyone else both past and present owe him a great debt.

I hope we see a fitting and lasting tribute to him. Putting his name to the Colossus would seem appropriate as he was a Colossus himself.
