That seems almost as improbable as him being the best poker player in history.
i don't think it is all that surprising that we don't know "exactly" what went down. postle stopped playing once as soon as this came out and no one involved has squealed (yet).

thanks to it all being captured on video we do all know more or less what went down. Postle was receiving opponents hole card info as read by the RFID - i don't think anyone smart who has followed this disagrees? whether by hacking or accomplice we don't know, would be interesting but we may never find out. Don't think he makes it to level of evil genius but there is a level of street smart in finding a way to do this and for as long as he did.

There is some street smarts involved, but it was done in a really dumb way to be so obvious when you looked carefully at the videos.

I disagree. We don’t know what info he was receiving. Maybe it was telling him to bluff or bet.

Also, there was a time when they got rid of phones and it has been presumed he got some info out of his hat to his ear via bone conducting equipment.

How exactly did this work?

Some of this does sound a little ridiculous.

I don’t know what he did either. I do agree that something amiss occurred. Still pretty amazing that after all this time, not a single person in the world could explain what he did. Or any confederates were involved.

Given his connections to Russ Hamilton and the mechanic/accomplice from Molly’s Game, I wonder if these guys have been running a cheating ring even before the Potripper days....

Actually, in the absense of a countersuit alleging defamation, loss of livlihood, w/e, I suddenly wonder if, maybe there was cheating?

Sorry, just the data doesn't convince me. How? No evidence on the how besides some odd behavoirs.

I have no idea what sort of investigations happen in civil suit.

If a criminal investigation were begun, where phone records, credit card receipts, computer drives, histories were subpoenaed and analyzed, people of interest interviewed w/immunity for testimony deals, then all would be revealed.

Looks like he gets away scot-free, so we'll never know.

It's interesting they got caught sort of the same way Potripper did with Hamilton and UB, making ridiculous plays you could only make if you knew the hole cards.

The jury is still out on that. For example, we have zero idea if he might haven gotten some legal counsel that told him under which circumstances he would be fine even if caught. That’s what smart white-collar criminals do.

It’s also impossible to say which way maximizes his earnings. There are way too many external factors that he can’t influence like the live stream being canceled or his hole card connection losing access to that because they got reassigned or fired. There’s a chance that taking as much as possible in as little time as possible maximized his EV even if that meant significantly higher risk of getting caught.

I don’t understand how the hat supposedly worked?

Are people saying his hat emitted some type of signal to his bone that told him each of his opponent’s hole cards?

This is starting to sound somewhat crazy. I agree that there is something with his phone.

I would like to hear how this hat supposedly worked. I think that is pure conjecture at this point.

Maybe he didn’t cheat every hand. Or he was being signaled in a different way than we believe. He might have a different device and he used his phone to cover it up.

I hope one day we found out.

Ever heard of AfterShokz headphones? They are pretty popular in the running/cycling world because you're still able to hear traffic.

There are hats on the market that have bone conducting sound installed. I tried the one from Cynaps and didn't like it, but that should be perfectly fine for what we're discussing here.

Whenever I play poker, I too hear voices in my head, generally telling me, "that guy is bluffing".

The voices invariably are wrong.

Would adding tinfoil to my hat improve the quality of the poker information the voices tell me ?

Let me sum up this post: "I heard something about this thing that I know nothing about. I am too lazy to do any research on it or read the numerous posts in this very thread that explain the process in detail with links to websites and pictures that back it up. So instead I am just going to call all of you crazy and discount everything said against Postle."

Did I sum that up right Matasaw?

I am aware of bone conduction.

What I don’t know is how the card info was transmitted to his hat then relayed it to his brain.

So know we are saying that he is able to get this from text to audio?

You guys are the ones wearing the tinfoil hats.

I wholeheartedly agree there is something amiss. I just think it may be something completely different.

And, maybe he didn’t cheat 100% of the time.

I don’t know. Nobody seems to know. All just a bunch of guesses.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

The press should be all over this one. The greatest evil mastermind in history or the greatest player in history.

I will certainly listen.

Well I don't think we can make this claim yet. It still is too early on what will happen in the civil trail and history is a long time.

What civil trial? Are you really banking on an appeal to over turn a 150-year old ruling? Or somehow a Nevada court will care?

Anyone who saw the videos of the crazy plays that he makes (or even just looked at the hand histories), including a situation where he goes all in over a 4bet in a situation where people are almost never 3bet bluffing. A situation where he calls all in preflop with 54 CORRECTLY against two AK.

Or my favorite, the situation where a guy calls him down with pocket jacks because someone told him that Mike Postle is a possible cheater, on a board with two overcards.

I mean come on, anyone that is a poker player knows that only cheaters play like that.

The legal problems complicating this case is that most non-poker players don't understand how poker works. So of course a judge is not going to find it obvious, since there was a botched (some would say coverup) investigation done by Stones Gambling Hall, which would have faced possible legal and commercial repercussions for admitting that cheating was done in their establishment (on stream no less).

This was the path of least resistance for all parties involved, especially with law enforcement deciding not to get involved.

That doesn't change the fact that it's really obvious to anyone that has looked at the hand histories that Postle is a cheater. The details of that cheating may not be obvious, but the cheating itself is obvious.

Article on the Nevada Postle case. Seems he has an "official" attorney now.

In one hand the cards change during the hand. Because this is an RFID it’s not as if the card reader can misread cards. It gets a signal saying XYZ card is there, the signal goes into its database and returns with XYZ= King of spades. It’s not like thenRFID read the right code and then spit out misinformation.

So we are in the middle of the hand, then his Hole cards change on the river.

How did the employees know his hole cards were wrong? Employees had to manually change the card graphics, but mike was in the middle of a hand , so we can watch the video and see that he didn’t stop the hand and say hey my cards are wrong. Even if he did, how would he know that the cards in his hand were different from the cards on the display? There’s no way he could tell without someone who is watching the stream AND is able to check with mike mid hand helping him out.

I don’t see anyway to make the cards change unless someone knew the cards that mike had and then they knew that they needed to change them to make the hand history look legit.

There’s no way this happens except for cheating - it’s impossible for mike to know what the screen says without cheating and it’s impossible for the announcers to know what cards he has in front of him unless mike was telling them.

How could this happen mid hand unless someone was cheating?

Sorry didn't realize what had happened. Kind of a sick ruling to be honest.
