2020 seems like a good time to recruit new WSOP commentators.

Bye Lon.

A decade ago when they went to live coverage of the WSOP was the right time to replace Lon.

wtf, somebody who is actually supposed to be knowledgeable about the game of Poker and the news surrounding it actually believes there is no evidence that cheating was taken place? Somebody needs to take away his credentials.

Is Lon officially working for Stones?

I think he is saying that Stones was not an active participant in the cheating. Maybe Justin and a tech, but there is no evidence of anybody higher.

Picking on a senior citizen with a faulty memory and a vested interest?

Curious to see how Lon is treated at the 2027 WSOP after he testifies at three dozen trials.

While I agree with that, their extreme negligence during the cheating and their handling of it after it was reported does not mean they are not complacent in some fashion. So he has no grounds to act like Stones was an innocent bystander in this just like the rest of the players. Remember when they had their own internal investigation and "cleared" anybody of wrongdoing? lol

The staff at Stones (including Lon apparently) were hostile to Veronica when she made her concerns known. They tried very hard to sweep the whole thing under the rug, did a fake investigation, and are now arguing in court that they have no obligation to provide safe and secure games for players.

Once you start trying to cover it up, you are then complicit.

Yep. It was much more then "Well we didn't actually do the cheating so we aren't responsible"

It was "Actually zero cheating ever occurred after conducting our own investigation as the judge jury and executioner and also we have no responsibility to ensure that the games we offer to our paying customers are as advertised even if there IS cheating"

It seems crazy to me that "not my problem" can be a justification for what they did and neglected to do.

Re: Mike Postle cheating allegations (FAQ in first post)

The fact is Veronica continued to host games she suspected were corrupt, and did not warn the other players. She is just as culpable as the rest. The fact that she eventually did the right thing does not mitigate her earlier complicity.

The same could be said for every whistle-blower in history who continued to do their jobs until the time came when they felt the need to come forward. Also she at first became suspicious and it took time and repetition for her to see what is now so obvious to all of us Monday Morning QBs. It's not like game 1 hand 1 she was like man this guy Postle is cheating somehow.

If everybody felt like you nobody would ever come forward to report wrongdoing. I highly doubt you would even have the courage.

No, I can't agree with this. Do you want people coming forward? Because if the line is that once you've taken part, coming forward of your own volition gets you treated exactly the same as those who never did and never would, then everyone's best play, even if they've reconsidered their actions, is to clam up. I can't see how that's a good thing.

It's not anywhere that simple. Victims often take time to speak up. Her circumstance was precarious to say the least and she got the courage to come forward and is the hero of this story.

In this clip with Lon there's a quick mention that it could be cheating for Mike Postle to play in the game he invented.

The staff meaning the manager named in the lawsuit as involved in the cheating? To be fair to Stones, they are in a difficult spot with staff apparently being involved in running a crooked game and being sued. It might be hard for them to admit to what was going on.

Interesting mention of Postle's connections to Stones in that he invented the game they were playing. Also, asks if he could be cheating.

Re: Mike Postle cheating allegations (FAQ in first post)

It is significant that Stones has apparently fired Justin, despite that it might prejudice the lawsuit. I am sure they are very unhappy with him.

They may not be able to admit to the cheating, as it would damage there defense. Also, although gaming regulation may not be too serious, it might cause them problem that they were running a crooked game. It is possible their position with regulators is better if they don't admit to it.

I've long assumed he's a spokesman/endorser of the room. Most people would not have given it any thought because those outside the Northern California had never heard of Stones until last fall. However, he has been giving shoutouts to the place on the WSOP broadcasts for at least two years now.

The only reason it caught my ears is that Stones was the closest thing I had to having a "home" card room. But most of you who watched the live coverage last summer probably heard Lon mention Stones a few times, and it would not have struck you at the time.

Definitely interesting, but I don't see how this adds much more in the way of evidence. And before anyone says how this speaks to his "character," bear in mind that's the stuff of movies and TV. In reality, character evidence would be something Postle's side can bring up to help defense, but something prosecution can't use.

That said, I now have a hankering to watch that ElevenGrover documentary again. He had quite a bit of footage of the UBT shows in there.

Re: Mike Postle cheating allegations (FAQ in first post)

What stakes did Postle play on UltimateBet circa 2004-2008? Obviously the games were softer back then and poker has evolved greatly but is it really reasonable to think he was a high stakes crusher that became relegated to live low stakes?

He can crush at any game where he can see his opponents cards.

That’s his point. If he was crushing high stakes online then became a live low stakes grinder, it supports the fact that he didn’t actually have the skills to legitimately crush online.
