Local paper article with the first to my knowledge public comments by the man representing Stones and by the man representing Mike Postle. Worth looking at both imo.
The "They say he can't win every time, but I lose every time so streaks like this can happen" explanation has to be the worst possible argument, ever.

I'm guessing the people who are saying something other than the Moneymaker win was the biggest poker story of all time are under 30 years old. And this story will also not surpass it, except perhaps only in the minds of some hardcore poker players.

The Moneymaker story was all over the mainstream news (much more than an SVP segment), and not just a passing mention like the annual WSOP ME winner gets the next day. It is the reason any of these other stories are even relevant. I think the boom was more the result of a perfect storm of the advent of hole-card cameras and Moneymaker's win, but the hole-card cameras themselves weren't a big story. Moneymaker was huge.

Then how do explain winning powerball? I have a client that literally won the jackpot on powerball twice. (True)

From that article:

Lipman said that effort is costing Stones “a lot of money” and that he hopes to have preliminary results next week.

“I believe that it will be the computer forensics that will give us the definitive evidence needed to reach the ultimate conclusion,” Lipman said. “We have been and will continue to totally cooperate with the Bureau of Gambling Control from day one.”

If that's your conclusion, you're either not reading or not comprehending the thread.

The biggest poker story of all time was Wild Bill Hickok being shot in the back of the head while playing poker.

I was an adult when Chris Moneymaker won the main event and I didn't know anything about it. I wasn't even born yet when Wild Bill was shot and I still knew about that.

Selective quote.

Answer this: Why does the casino continue to let him play?

They are naive? They’re in on it and want to deflect? They just don’t care?

JFK was in charge of the livestream. He is suspected to be in on it. The casino entrusted him and he took advantage of their trust.

You mean why are they undergoing an expensive investigation after initially saying that the allegations were fabricated?

It's not about likelihood he was cheating. It's not like he got dealt aces too many times. The way he played the hands is, imo, absolute and clear proof he was cheating but a non-poker player may not be able to tell.

There are multiple, very plausible possibilities that I'm pretty sure you would've seen if you had been following everything:

1. JFK was actually in on it. This one's debatable. It's almost certain there was an inside person, but I don't think there's sufficient evidence to pin it on JFK (he strikes me as a Postle fanboy that doesn't have much technical knowledge of poker strategy and at times was grossly negligent in overseeing the operation).
2. Postle became a meme/cult figure for their stream. I don't think their stream ever got huge penetration (was doing better than their raw views would suggest, but this is no Ninja or anything like that), but for those watching, his 'godlike powers' became one of the selling points for the stream.
3. How much influence did the casino higher ups actually have in regards to this livestream? It feels like they gave one of their managers - JFK - some slack to set up and run a show as he saw fit, and left it to him to make sure things ran smoothly and were above board. If he decides not to report something - because he legitimately thinks it's fine, or because he doesn't want to bomb one of the stream's favourite players if he can get away with hand-waving it - then the higher ups won't have a clue about it. Hell, despite how obvious it looks when reviewing all the hands and footage, as well as the crotch-staring, only a few select people had suspicious prior to the end of Sept.

The casino allowing him to keep playing doesn't mean he wasn't cheating. All it means is that there was a leak or weak spot in their infrastructure, which was likely at the management level (ie. JFK - feels mean to try and pin the flaws on one guy, but while I don't think there's sufficient evidence to say he's the inside man, I feel like he was definitely negligent in his duties).

Hey, that is great. They only have to win the powerball 5 more times before we start looking for explanations.

Depends if you differentiate "most known poker story" from "biggest poker story." I definitely do, but it's just a matter of semantics.

Yeah, it's probably the biggest since 2010, but there were what, 20,000 people browsing 2p2 late at night during Black Friday?
Moneymaker winning has been watched by nearly every person here as well.

Wow. Really? THAT'S the man chosen to defend Postle and his acquaintances? "I've lost 100 hands in a row, so it's obviously possible to win 100 hands in a row." No, sir. That's not how probability works.

"Proof" and evidence are not the same thing. As many people have said, there is more than enough evidence to win a trial here. Whether that is enough for you is something else.

Initially, I went back and forth on the "bone-conduction hat" theory. However, the timing of the switch to the hat after the "phone ban".

Also, the two versions of "same" hat (puffy while playing & normal when interviewed, etc.)

Still a TON more info to find out RE: the hat..IMO

I don't want to post a link to it, but there are decoy smartphones that are created/sold specifically for reading RFID playing cards. They even come with a decoy controller that looks like a remote start for a vehicle (and could easily be refitted into a real remote start shell).

^Has this been discussed in the thread at all?

I remember learning about what I mentioned above here on 2+2. If I remember correctly, the thread got locked/edited for obvious reasons.

Seems like kind of a silly question to ask mid-story, but as others have said, no, of course it isn't the biggest poker story of all time.

Sure, but I don't know that they've reached a conclusion of anything other than people are rushing to judgement. I believe there's just some people out there who think it's their role to help people who are getting piled on or something, and the actual evidence isn't really their concern. Either they think they're helping the little guy, or they just enjoy jumping into the fray and arguing with a bunch of people. Especially when they see a case like this, where the evidence is based on probability, and speculation about what we're seeing on video, so they can say "but guys, there's still a chance...innocent until proven guilty!!,", etc.

They have banned quite a few. And they've also mentioned a few times that there's multiple ways to report problem posters, like the post report feature, and the moderation thread, which is also the place to go if you have complaints and/or suggestions about moderation.
