There’s more to poker than tournaments. He’s done very well in private cash games since the pandemic.

I can confirm he’s doing better than he’s been doing in probably a decade. Doesn’t owe anyone other than DNegs. If anyone wants to post in here that he owes them to prove that wrong, then go ahead.

Mike has had his share of issues in his career and he’ll be the first to admit that but I don’t like seeing people accused of things that are blatantly not true.

Here's an alternate perspective:

Mike and I are by no means close friends, but I've had various interactions with him over the almost 20 years I've known him. I've personally witnessed some very positive things which might surprise a lot of you.

I've watched him put guys into WSOP events who were down and out and basically broke, not because these were players of tremendous talent, but because Mike was a nice guy and wanted to give them another chance. These weren't even close friends of his -- but just guys who got to know him over the years.

I've seen him do non-monetary favors for people, as well. The guy actually does have a big heart, as hard as that can be to believe with some of his antics and drama.

I won't start to defend a lot of his mistakes. They're numerous, and Mike himself has admitted many times that he's a "f*** up". But I've seen enough with my own eyes to know that he doesn't mean badly, and is much more complex of a human than many are portraying in this thread.

It seems like one of these discussions pops up every few years, and I just wanted to put my two cents in. By the way, in case you're wondering, Mike has never given me money, loaned, or staked me at any point., so I'm not writing any of this out of obligation or personal gratitude.

i don't question that he was generous when he was raking it in from full tilt but that money is long gone.

Not doubting Druff's view of the man and sure he definitely is a complicated individual. But what bothers me about all this is you have now a pretty well-known media person in the poker community(Feldman) liking MM's tweets claiming everything about him is a lie, as well as coming in this thread talking him up making it seem like he is a solid dude.

He definitely didn't pay Forrest anywhere close to a million that he owed him. From what I heard he gave Ted an ultimatum that he accept some lowball monthly payment for a few months or Ted wouldn't get anything because Mike told him he was broke and had no income. So Ted took whatever he could get. Care to dispute that Ryan?

Have you ever thought about sending Mike a direct message. I only know him slightly but have always found him to be someone who is willing to talk. My bet is that if you sent Mike a message, and you can do this on Twitter, and politely asked him to explain those things that seem to bother you, that you'll receive his answer and explanation. Then you can take it from there.

Water is wet and ice is cold, Mike was outed by his brother years ago but many refused to believe his brother who came across as a bit crazy and vengeful.

Poker and gambling in general has a seamy underbelly with gamblers having a dark side of scamming and deceit nothing new to me. I have seen this at every casino and race track I have ever frequented.
