I know Jeremy through a few business dealings. Haven't seen him for years, and people can change, but I'd be shocked if he was involved in any kind of scam. From what I know of him, that's just not in his DNA.

If anyone lives near by they should contact a local bullion dealer or pawn shop and ask if they would spend an hour or so to pop up and test the metals that are being paid out. There are many portable devices that are very accurate at detecting metals purity. For a couple hundred bucks you could probably find someone interested

Their may be ramifications later on, but it looks like not right now. Here's the reporting

Surprisingly, cards are back in the air here at the final table. The state didn't get involved (other than to verify precious metal was on-site) and players want to play it out (they think any sort of chop too difficult when dealing w/ metals & not cash).

Is it true that Illinois charity card rooms aren’t allowed to pay out more than $500 above buy-in for poker tournaments?

If that’s the case, shouldn’t Illinois players know about that?

Obv lots of speculation and potential angles here. It would seem hard to believe that with all the up front money spent and undoubtedly knowing this would be very public that it's original intent was a scam. That being said, wow, with so many issues popping up you definitely lean more towards shaky than incompetence. GL

0 chance Jeremy Smith is involved or knew anything about this scam. I’ve known him for 5-6 years and he’s def a stand up guy. He did not show up to Day 2 after he was told or found out that players were getting paid in precious metals.

Wouldn't a stand-up guy have shown up and told the players what was going on?

They need to get a precious metals expert to
The casino right now. Pause the tourney. Test the metals and if they are fake call the police. Sick of scumbags getting away with murder.

What makes you say that? All the pics I've seen of the eagles and maples appear to be real, just not worth anywhere near 35/oz. Tough to tell off pics though.

1 - no reputable dealer would sell a quarter million dollars worth of silver without more of a legitimate paper trail than a terrible word document not even written on company letterhead.

2 - what do you think the odds are that the well known shady guy completely disappeared with nearly all the cash but for some reason left duffel bags full of “valuable” coins?

Let's get OP to crack one open and either drill it out or do a ping test. The question isn't if you got ripped off. The question is for how much.

The real winner of the poker tournament is whoever got $35/oz for silver

If he made out getting 35/oz he doesn't have to sell fakes because he made a ton anyway lol. As far as the quarter mill, if Dan filled out the proper tax forms for purchase over 10K why wouldn't he sell to him? No reason not to.

Did they limit the number of players per room to the state covid limit of 50? If you look at the pics on PN there were a few without masks and several wearing them wrong. No barriers and full tables. Hope there isn't an outbreak caused by all this.

According to what Danny posted on Facebook, he proposed going through the Chicago Coin Company. The Vice President of Operations the Chicago Coin Company is Glen DeCosta. According to their website, his hobbies include poker. Do they know each other through poker?
