It seems that this Dan Bekavac guy is a career scammer, according to some people who know him.

Okay so this guy is just an out an out scammer, if the charity room or wherever this is being played still has any of the money, just ICM/Chip chop it amongst remaining players and call it a day. "pokerbros" and mid way poker tour is dead. And that's that.

buying counterfeit sealed packages of “silver bullion” from China is a very well known hustle

I have a feeling people are about to have their PayPal accounts seized when they try selling....

Another update from chad, video of the final table players discussing what to do.

per the tweet, no Reps from the Mid States poker tour are on site? How is that even possible?
Not a MidStates Poker Tour event. This was a new tour - Midway Poker Tour run by known scammer Dan Bekavac

Its not just Dan Bekavac involved here. There are many scammers here who knew what was happening and have known they were paying out coins to winners but didn't tell the players because they knew they wouldn't show up. They were bragging about it a month ago. Jason Trezak is Bekavacs right hand man. Eric Anderson formerly of MSPT has been heavily involved in this new tour and trying to sell casinos and helped run this entire event, he was also running a huge PokerBros scam and got the entire app shut down in Minnesota is what I heard, the state of Minnesota is looking into him for that. Jeremy Smith who was recently let go by HPT was also promoting this event and handled all the staffing. These guys all knew and were trying to line their pockets at the expense of players.

The price discrepancy is consistent with what I have seen at coin shops. These new bullion coins ("collectible" silver rounds) are listed at prices significantly above spot. For something closer to spot I would think they would use damaged/low quality US silver dollars.

Not sure about any of the other people involved but I know Jeremy the TD was in the dark. Apparently he didn’t come back for day 2 when he realized the issue with metals being given as prize

I don’t think you understand the scam - you can buy straight up fake “factory sealed” coins from China that will easily pass a magnet test but any reputable metals dealer will know is fake

The receipt from the metal dealer is bogus. Here's more info from the metal guy, "Andy Mettille". Obviously shady as well:

Seems to go by different names. Obviously using an alias.

Eric's a good ass dude and from what I know Jeremy is as well. No chance either of them knew this was going to happen or they wouldn't have supported it the way they did.

Daniel Bekavac is a straight up scum bag. He owes tons of money from his gambling addiction it’s ridiculous. Why anybody would ever do anything where this guy is involved is beyond me. He’s had countless underground poker clubs. He’s had them robbed, players cheating, undercover house players, dealers cheating among other things. He also claims he’s on military disability which is why he uses pawns names to do these scams. Who knows what is true with this guy. I’ve known of him for about 3 years and nobody has anything good to say about him AT ALL, except stay away.

He had a plan to rob this tourney and his boy Jason Trezak who signed the receipt for the metals as MGR is too dumb to realize he’s being set up to be the fall guy. Please AG investigate these guys and take them down.

The metals guy has some sort of scam operation going. First he goes by "Andy Mettille", then "Andy Mettiller". Obviously both very fake sounding, sounds like 'metal'.

Here's his facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/3674...508/?ref=share

If you click on his FB page it says he works for "Fedex".

The “metal dealer” has counterfeit bullion listed on his page - confirmed.

These ones have been sold with QR code’s on the package you can scan for checking authenticity since at least 2016

They haven't always had QR codes. How does that confirm anything? Not saying they're real or fake, but he overpaid regardless anyway.

Welp, it looks like it could be a $210k scam then. I will say these silver coins look pretty fake just on sight.

Does Jeremy have a last name? Did he just disappear without warning anyone that something was amiss?

I can't believe the state just looked at that receipt and accepted it, and then walked away. What a joke.

You 100% on that? Is the tournament resumed? Surely the issue of being paid 30% under fair value has to have some legal ramifications
