It’s def a good thing most people in society wouldn’t mimic his actions, bc most people might make it worse. I was raised a pacifist and would have frozen before calling security. Even capable people have no obligation to act.

If he saved a victim from serious further harm, that’s brave. If he considered the consequences and took the line that matched up w his values, then it doesn’t seem foolish. He was basking in the glory. It’s not surprising, given the flood of adrenaline immediately before and during any physical encounter, which hasn’t yet worn off. The positive reinforcement from both the casino and his peers would reinforce his perception that the decision was righteous.

The unsettling aspect is that bc this girl might be getting gorilla pimped, her situation could get much worse. Still, MH only played one hand and he played it optimally. She coupd seek help from the police or other DV support hopefully.

I’d never heard of MH before today and now we have. Maybe he could leverage this into something positive like a match for a DV charity, or something quirky like a poker/fighting HU mix. I would not be comfortable to "talk it out" with a guy that knocks a girl out in front of a room full of people, that does not end well. It would likely just escalate the situation and make the guy even more pissed off.

I have acted the same way in a very similar situation and it takes split seconds to actually act, make a decision and do it.

And yes, in 2018 with all the snowflakes around it is pretty OK to say he is a hero, I doubt everyone would have done the same. I have seen people just put their head down or look in a different direction trying to ignore it.

FWIW, I'd like to think I"d intervene with someone literally hitting or beating up a woman, and I don't have any MMA chokeout skills at all. I might end up taking a beating myself. I've never actually done it however.

Terrible anecdote (you can ignore this): Once I intervened when a guy was arguing with a woman and was physically preventing her from leaving, though it never got physical and I wasn't in any danger really if it did. I subsequently learned he was preventing her from seeing her narcotics dealer. Bad move on my part given that information.

I stopped some dumbass from beating a chick. I didn't even like the chick, I thought she was a *****. Still, I known her for years, partied with her a lot and she was young and dating some guy. We were partying at a friends house drinking and eventually got down to a few of us. I saw the dude smack the dumb chick and I intervened. Funny little fight, I pushed him and then he punched my in my glasses and the fun times ensued. I blacked out, wrestled his dumb ass for a bit and next thing I remembered I was pushing him out the front door. He didn't like it much so he screamed like a banshee while dawn broke and the cops came. I told them I'd like to press charges for my broken glasses, they pushed me off to tell me to **** off and I obliged. Dude apparently just got dropped off at the next neighborhood. My left middle finger was semi dislocated from the fight.


A few years later chick told me about how she was a dope head and some dope head boyfriend of her's hung himself in a shed. She tried to do the same but failed. She was pregnant at this time.

see this is why most of you guys taking this position are lame and it's not smart to get involved in stuff like this. real fights aren't like the movies where there's a natural buildup and two people get in each others faces and one pushes the other and the other pushes back and then a punch is thrown.

we were on a motorcycle run one time years ago and some broken down old biker, full member 3 patch club, was slapping a young girl around because she wouldn't sell herself to the migrant farm workers in the bar to get him some money. I heard her say '...I ain't f**king no Mexicans...' and her started hitting her. Probably not the first time or the last. She looked to be about 17 years old, blond, blue eyes.

I told him if he so much as raised his hand to her again I would beat his ass and meant it. He quickly sized me up and had to back down in front of the whole bar wearing his colors, pretty much sure he couldn't take me one on one. I wrestled in High School and college and boxed some so I was in my prime, in shape (ran sub-5 minute miles), and knew how to fight.

The next night at the Yuma fair grounds he showed up with 15-20 of his 'brothers' looking to take me for a ride. I had no doubt they were going to beat/shoot/stab me half to death or all the way to death. I hid under the bleachers knowing there was no way to win this and they eventually left.

Dumb move on my part. Being smacked around is part of the game being a bikers old lady and they know it.
