Not sure if serious.

But regardless, those may well be solid sources; I have no idea. But it sure isn't obvious to me either way, so I thought the whole "reading comprehension why are you still speculating" bit was kind of silly. Meh, no biggie. Obviously it's 50/50 that it was Zach - either it was, or it wasn't. Happy New Year!

this driver isn't a hyena, but a protecting hippo-mother.

The bonomo speculation seemed plausible also. I think its 50-50 that is him also.

I'm confirming my comment as well

its not a federal crime so they wont come in unless the local police call them.
and it could easily turn into its my word against his who has the money or even if it was there.
if no one talked at all to them it would likely not get followed up on very far.

Suppose some passenger walks away with the bag. Metro gets a call from some poker player, I left $300K in a cab. Do you really expect Metro to spin up some big investigation? To look at the video from every cab? To believe him? And suppose they have video of the finder getting out of a cab with a paper bag? Your word against mine that there was $300K, or $1, in it. Assuming the finder doesn't talk to cops, good luck pinning anything on him. His lawyer will argue there was some trash left in the cab and his client was just helping out the driver by throwing it away.

Not sure if cameras at casino can pick up serial numbers of bills, but I am sure they know they gave 'x' number of bills and if you have exact number of bills, it may point to guilt.

Also, IRS may get involved too. Need to wait a LONG time before any moves are made. Most people are too dumb and greedy and give themselves away.

many times people that would easily keep a smaller amount of money they find get scared when it is a huge amount to them. and then turn it in because of that and also possible award.

usually if the finder keeps quiet and is careful no jurisdiction will spend the time and money to track it down without a witness. and especially if the loser of it cannot verify the loss.

Always been honest myself but no more.

At Vegas for the NFR. Guy walks by talking on his telephone, pulls a pen out of his pocket, wad of money fell out, he kept walking. No idea how much but outside bill was a hundred. Picked it up, ran over to him and tapped him on shoulder, told him he dropped it and handed it to him. I got a "nod"

FK that, cell phone more important? Next time, I pocket the cash.

So you returned the $$ in trade for a reward, not because it was the right thing to do?

no you do it because its right. but when you get nothing even a thankis in return you now need to question what is the correct thing to do rather than the right thing.

the right thing to do when you see someone hurt is to give them some aid if you think it will save them. but if you knew you would be sued and lose most of your wealth 30% of the time. it would still be the right thing to do but would it be the correct thing. and what might you do.

+1

It is like intervening when a guy is hitting his girl. 30-50% of the time your actions will result in the two of them attacking you.

No I returned it because it "was" the right thing to do.

Not doing it again because people are ungrateful morons. His cell phone call was waaaaaaaaaaaay more important than taking the time to thank me. A nod is not a thank you, it's an acknowledgement.

I work at a high end grocery store. Out in the lot during work i found a women's wallet made of alligator. It was really heavy so i assume there was probably credit cards and cash inside. I was far away enough from the cameras to steal but put it in lost and found. Right thing to do but wrong because i could have been paid good.

So you are penalising the next person who has the misfortune of dropping money because this guy didn't reward you?

You are far worse than the guy who lost his money.

It wasn't the Justin Bonomo in the video.

It was the Justin Bonomo sitting in the other seat in the tournament.

I think effectively stealing 300k would result in jail time http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theft_by_finding

I may be worse, that's your opinion. I do however read. I said I wasn't looking for a reward as you state. A simple thank you would have been fine.

And yes, I hold open a door for someone and they don't say thanks, I yell your welcome at them and let the door go, not holding it for the next person. I'm bad to the bone I am.

Kind of like "pay it backward" I guess.

Don't let them live in your head rent free. If someone doesn't accept your gesture of good will just know you did the right thing, feel good about your actions, and move on.

I suspect you are just venting and prob aren't as "bad to the bone" as you type here. You are prob an actual "softie". That's a good thing.

Now back to the guessing. I am guessing 50/50 it is Gus Hansen. When you lose so much online it's easy to overlook $300K.
