That's exactly what I was thinking. Don't get me wrong I believe this guy because of Maurice's history. But at the same time, this victim seems a bit out there. Probably prime pickings for a person with Maurice's character.

Gets some dude to lend him 100k and just lol when asked for it back . I would not call him a scum bag?

If you can get a fool to lend you 100k without checking him out first then maybe your a soft target and should take as a life lesson that you can't trust anyone who you are not 200% sure they will pay you back a large sum of money.

Is there a difference between a backer and a lender?

No-risk backing deals seem like the nuts to the person with the money who is taking no risks but given unlimited upside.

1. Maurice or someone on his behalf made the post in order to undermine the plaintiff's case in some way.

2. Someone else who was swindled by Maurice made the post out of spite.

There's a lot of misinformation and unnecessary speculation ITT. I lean towards Randy being honest. He hasn't said anything untrue as far as I've seen. Please read below and correct me if I'm wrong.

From the little bit I seen on twitter and here, I came to these conclusions.

1. He didn't write this OP, the mods edited and said that in red. Randy also denies it, why not believe him? Has he said or done anything to deem himself untrustworthy? Everything I've seen him post on twitter is true and there is proof.

2. He didn't lend 100k. He agreed to back Maurice in tournaments. Maurice cashed and didn't give Randy his 50%.

3. He agreed to back Maurice in Feb 2017, before he knew about the other scam and him being sued. That lawsuit was July 2017.

4. His public post on twitter isn't a big deal because there is already a judgement against Maurice. Randy hasn't said anything that isn't already public knowledge and documented.

5. There is text message proof.

One question and I see this everywhere so not picking on the guy who said it here. Sincerely want to know. Why do people always point to followers on twitter as proof of truth or fake, smart or stupid? So confusing. I don't twitter much, some people just don't twitter. Why do people look down on that? Same with forums? Craziness.

I know there's a lot of trolls and fakes and everyone's wary but for the love of poker give the people the benefit of the doubt before jumping to those conclusions. Or better yet, do a half hour of research and see for yourselves. The link I posted was in the comments on Twitter. That's how I found it.

Here is the info with a news article link. Apparently the lawsuit was dismissed end of July and they worked out their differences. There has been a lot of other talk over the years as well. Not researching it any further. Lots of complaints out there.

I mean no disrespect to the parties involved in this staking, but how does staking still occur? I understand the concept obviously but the likelihood of something going bad seems extraordinarily high.

While it´s hard not to sympathise with OP, I´ll look at it from Maurice´s perspective: He meets the guy, quickly realizes he´s a Mark and thinks that he´ll con him before anyone else does. I´m surprised nobody mentions the 50% profit sharing. What player in the world is value at that price? Still from Maurice´s side, worst case scenario is that he has to pay back 103,000, whereas if the mark up were a more normal 20%, he would be stuck for 180,000.
