It's probably hard enough to get these high rollers to commit to a week's worth of mtts without adding on the extra couple of days it would take if the structures were slower. Or perhaps the turnout would be greater owing to the improved structures. I imagine PokerGo may have solicited feedback from this years' players on the matter.

As for the title and jacket going to the player with the best ROI, I don't think that's compatible with the desire of PokerGo to encourage participation in as many of the tournaments by each player as possible. Total win incentivizes that. A point structure would, too, so maybe they'll change to one next time they put the event on.

(and why it is not used at a series like WSOP where main event winner would win POY virtually every time. )
Well you don't know that. If he went 0/4, $1.2mio would have to go somewhere on the list...

Having it on during WCOOP probably had some sort of effect too. I think you'd def see a reasonable increase if this was hosted a month later. Charlie Carrel, Pleno, Greenwoods and a number of Europeans would have likely given it a shot.

It's not so much about the high roller regulars, even though they spent significant time mastering the current format of those events. But it's hard enough to find recreational players pony up $50k+ to play tournament poker, so the events are played in a way that fits their needs. Most of them don't want to play deepstacked because they aren't interested in spending that much time and also are quiet aware that the deeper the stacks, the smaller their chance to win.

Have been wondering all week how the jacket might look on a real person - guess Steffen Sontheimer didn't want to try it on? Maybe it needs to be tailored first or something?

Guess people don't usually try on their WSOP bracelets either - although when Phil Hellmuth won that belt for King of the Hill ... and this was after he had eaten that pasta dinner too!

Was quite good fun to have a leaderboard that was interesting to follow Next time, it seems like it might be extra lovely if they were to set up 3 feature tables and do extended coverage like they had for the WSOP Main Event for the final 21 or so? Although maybe that's very unlikely

if you just move everyone up 1 on the list from the 1st 4 events by removing Sontheimer's placement, then only Holz gets a noticeable increase of $350k which would put his earnings at 1.404 mil. That is still less than the 1.512 mil Sontheimer would get for winning #5 alone.

He should have wore the purple jacket. One of the Poker Go producers should be fired for this oversight.

Rungood imo. Imagine the sick runs any good player will go on over a sample size of five ~35 man tournaments/sngs. Over a large sample, most winning players will have similar runs.

Dude is definitely a top tier tournament player though.

Just look at the bottom 8 players. Besides AlanSchein these are all elite players. You get an idea of the variance.

Come on guys they can't expect him to try on the jacket after he wins.

It was stupid back then, even Gabe took a dump on the idea 15 years ago.

He definitely had some sweet runs of cards. But I never saw him get too OOL when he wasn't getting cards either.

He Ft'ed and I think got 5th in the Sunday Warmup on WCOOP final Sunday for like $300k... #phnicelife

I did not notice how tiny that jacket actually is.
Perhaps it is to inspire children and manlets to start taking up poker.

Stick with bracelets as they work for both genders and are not so size dependent.

Well I don't think they expect anyone to actually wear the thing. I wouldn't even start considering wearing that jacket unless it is perfectly tailored.
