Marsha Waggoner hates black people. Marsha Waggoner hates black people.

This weekend I played some live poker in L.A. I was playing in a pretty soft $25-$50 limit game when Marsha Waggoner came to my table. The very first hand she plays she's involved in a big multi-way pot where one player is all in and three players are still betting. At showdown the lone African-American Player at the table shows a full-house to take down the pot. Marsha is exasperated, I guess because she feels the cards did her wrong, she gives this black guy next to her the stink eye and then tells the rest of the table "I just hope he keeps that up".

The very next hand her and this same black guy are heads up when an innocuous looking card hits the board, Marsha then flashed one of her hole cards to the guy and said "You probally need this for your inside strait." The black guy said "no, that doesn't help me." and proceeded to raise. On the river instead of calling the black guys bet or folding she threw her cards into his unprotected hand in disgust.

A few hands later, Marsha made a very fishy raise. It seemed that her intention was to call a bet but after a few players behind her folded, she threw in some more chips and said that it was a raise. The black guy who was last to act in the hand called her for a string raise. Marsha threw up her hands and said "sure, fine, you can call me on a string raise, that's okay... but what difference does it make to you, you're playing with drug money anyway." The dealer made her take her raise back. Marsha threw her cards at the dealer (who was also black) racked up her chips and left the table.

Great, nobody cares.

Did the guy LOOK like a drug dealer? If so, it isn't racist. If he didn't, then yeah it's out of order.

doesn't need to be racist to be completely out of line...no matter who the opponent is and what they have done to you, this behavior should never be tolerated

What does "looking" like a drug dealer entail? Being black? wearing jewelry? I think your way out of line on this one, along with the woman who said it.

There is a 20-stone Eastern European guy who's a regular at the poker club I used to go to who is known to own a nearby strip club, and who knows what else he's into behind the scenes. He is very loud, sometimes very rude at the tables, trying to crush and bully people he doesn't like. He always has other guys with him lurking in the background. He drops a lot of money, so it's a running joke that if you spend £20 on a lapdance at his club, £19.50 goes to him to feed his poker losses. Now, if (taking my life into my own hands) I was to jibe him at the tables with "I know you make all your money from strippers anyway", would I be being "racist" because he happens to be from Eastern Europe?

Same situation as in the OP.

Wow...

...except that nowhere in the op does it say "...black guy who is known to be a drug dealer". It is just a black guy.

What I mean is, if the insult is said just because of someone's race, and it's stereotyping all members of that race as criminals, then sure it's racist. But if it's based on that person's appearance and behaviour, then it's not racist. However I see now that perhaps my analogy is unfair since in the case I mentioned the guy's line of work is known, whereas Marsha didn't know anything about the guy he insulted and was purposefully being rude.

In the OP, the woman was referring to a black person as being a drug dealer, presumably for no reason other than he is black, hence she is being racist.

In your example, you are referring to someone who owns a strip club as being someone who makes money from stripper, presumably because it is true. How are these the same?

Come on guys, on the general scale of racist stuff Australians say on a regular basis, that comment hardly even rates.
