What isil needs is a life coach. hell, maybe just a dude watching him play and pull the plug of his computer at some point would be enough.

It's not at all inconcievable, no one can deny that Isildur has a knack for going on huge heaters and running up a little money into a huge return in a short time span. Fun-loving gambly backer, lots of money etc. I would stake him if I had money. It's fun to gamble. Just gotta cash out before he burns himself out and spazzes like in these 16hr sessions when he starts to run bad.

Re: **** March High Stakes Thread ****

Yeah, I'm really confused about where Isi's last lot of money came from too. I'd thought he was being staked by another FTP reg - someone said DrPill. But if that were the case you'd have thought there'd have been some kind of limits on how long he played for, what stakes, etc. And, clearly, there weren't any outside controls: he did what he wanted and played just as degen as he wanted to.

So where did the money come from? Was it a straightforward loan from a poker buddy?

People always say he gets his money by "crushing the Euro sites" e.g. iPoker, but I don't think there's been any evidence of him doing that recently.

So, must be a bizarre staking deal, or a loan, I guess.

No his not. Just check the hsdb results from 01.03.2010, and then combine the last 24h results, he got monies left, should be atleast $1.3, and if my memory is right he started off with $500k before building again, thats at least $1.8. My guess is close to $2m if he didnt withdraw some money for good or have backer. He is also up $1.5M in 2010 ($3m - $1.5M last 24 hours).

Im interested where he got the first two mil that he deposited on november. I mean, euro sites are not THAT soft and there is no way high stakes regs didnt "catch" him while he was tilted at some point: he had to play for a long time to make 2mil.
I mean, it just seems like he got some kind of lucky break at the first place. There is no way he could beat high, or even mid stakes playing tilted half the time.

If this is Blom like we think theres no way he'll be staked.
Noone would stake you to play infinite consecutive hours against the best players hu.
Any backer would definately have constraints to any backing deal, truth is he does these kind of runs often playing huge sessions.

Re: **** March High Stakes Thread ****

I heard he was TheItalianStyle on Ipoker but a mate told me that that account actually showed a 1 mill + loss over 6 months or thereabouts I cant b bothered to verify maybe someone who knows how can do that.

IMO which obv counts for nothing is that he crushed alot of the euro sites HSNL HU and didnt play omaha. Then he moved to FTP then crushed Durrr at HSNL and no one would play him, remember when people (like PA) were playing him half PLO and half NLHE but then they managed to lure him to just play omaha.

I think the omaha bug got him when such massive swings take place and other nosebleeders have the discipline to just play a waiting game for him to come ot PLO tables not play him at HSNL.

I play a very limited amount of HU but I d imagine that once u ve spun up so much playing PLO its difficult to go back to playing NLHE which obv is still swingy HU but PLO s a different league.

PTR doesn't track PLO on iPoker and actually it hasn't really tracked iPoker at all for too long. He's down something like $1m on PTR, but that doesn't really mean anything.

Re: **** March High Stakes Thread ****

Do anyone else feel the urge to be Isildurs life-coach ?

He will never be a HS reg before he get stoploss and tilt control and manage to quit when his too tired. His only chances against galfond today was a sick heater to bust galfonds account. Starting the $500/$1000 tables his tilting game didnt stand a chance, galfond cold just lean back and pick his game apart.

Anyone know how close he was to busting galfonds account on $300/$600? He was up $500k with galfonds BR on the table?

Re: **** March High Stakes Thread ****

It's seems like it is really hard for people to understand this:

Fact1: Isildur1 is a really great player poker skill wise (I dare to say both when it comes to NLHE and PLO)

Fact 2: Isildur1 is such a degen that it doesn't really matter how good he is if he keeps playing six different opponents every night and sitting 20h at the table. The edge he may or may not have had on the opponents he plays disappears completely in such a case. This is why he keep getting action, the more experienced players recognize this behaviour and takes advantage of this.

This is really the same debate as the "player with the highest winrate is the best pokerplayer"

IMO Isildur1 lacks some of the skills to be called a truely great player.
He most definitely have the talent otoh so only time will tell.

Re: **** March High Stakes Thread ****

At one point jman was stuck like 1/2mil at 3/6 and he stopped reloading, so its entirely possible that had a few key pots right around that time gone Isil's way instead of galfond's, things would have ended very very differently. Like 2.5mil differently, in that jman would have likely quit for the day.

There is not enough money to satisfy his gambling addiction.

He needs a discipline drill instructor ffs. He is fearless, solid at NLHE, he could be a rich man right now, properly rolled for 200/ 400 and get any sponsor deal. F Omaha and f 16 h sessions.

This was my point exactly. This is gonna hunt Isildurs mind today, a 5-10min miniheater and he would be $2-$2.5M richer. Thats brutal. I think galdfond was very close to quitting, dont think he would bust his entire FTP roll.

The most funny part is that Brian Hastings is one of them not getting any schoolwork done

Is this just plain greed or is he approaching it as Sonic or something where he has to finish off all the endbosses? Anyway, he's still up a million over the past few days so the battle may be lost but the war sure aint over. One hell of a soldier though.
