Marc Wright aka dean23price scammed me for 4850€ (6077$/£3898 - xe.com 05/07/2012).

In March/April 2012 I won a seat into EPT Berlin Main Event which I had planned to goto alone.

On 13th April 2012 I got a message from Marc Wright asking if I would be willing to room share. I agreed to this free of charge with the condition that he gets a couple of room service meals/dinners in and we'd both be happy. I'd never met him previously but am a generous guy and thought I would try help out a fellow poker professional.

Marc arrived the night before the tournament and we decided to grind some mtts online. After the session we talked about swapping for EPT Berlin.

He wanted to do a deal where we would give the other person their buyin back if they reached the final table. I didn't really want to do this as I would prefer a FT sweat if either of us got there.

I asked if we could swap 5% instead which he agreed upon.

I busted in the last couple levels of the day. Marc went on to final table the event.

My brother came over to visit so on the day of the final table I railed the first 30 minutes then went to do some sight seeing. As I was on my way back to the rail I read on pokernews that he'd busted. I sent him a few messages saying unlucky etc and asking if he wanted to meet up. No response.

Instantly I'm feeling bad vibes but I hoped he was all good and he just wanted to get home as fast as possible - understandable.

I get home and message Marc, he says we did not swap a full 5%:

He offers to send me the money tomorrow (how much I don't know?) on the 29th April:

Marc then goes on to say he can't send the money in one lump sum and that he has to send in installments, offering only 3000€ instead of the full 4850€ owe:

Marc suggests getting a neutral to 'referee' the situation, surely its black and white?

Marc offers me 2000$ as payment for our swap:

19th June, I ask Marc to pay me, he agrees.

22nd and 25th June, I try to contact Marc again to ask for payment, agrees once more.

There are more instances of Marc offering to make payment, but I thought these were enough screenshots.

As of 10th July 2012 I am still waiting for any funds to be paid to myself, despite Marc making multiple offers to pay less than the full 5%.

It's a shame because the guy is a top bloke, I stupidly trusted him thinking he'd put these scams behind him, but this obviously is not the case.

Please don't deal with this guy.

Cliffs

- I swapped 5% with Marc Wright aka dean23price in the EPT Berlin Main Event.
- Marc goes on to final table which is good for 97,000€
- Marc leaves after busting back for the UK without speaking or messaging me.
- Marc claims he does not have 100% of himself and is therefore unwilling to pay me the full 5% which we agreed to swap.
- I am offered 3000€ instead of the full 4850€ he is owe me.
- Marc repeatedly says he will transfer the money to me and fails to do so.
- Marc offers to make smaller payment (2000$ = 32.9% of what we agreed to swap) multiple times and as yet has still failed to do so.

07-10-2012 , 04:59 PM
the reason people make these threads outing people is so that others dont make the same mistake.... dont make the same mistake! should never trust this guy with any sort of deal.

This guy again? There is enough info on the net about this pos's history of scamming and frigging people over to alert even the most trusting of folks that he's wrong un (no matter who he has roped in to vouch for him and says he's "changed") sorry OP but you should have done a little bit of homework before swapping %s with him, gl getting what he owes you though.

Just saw someone retweet this from him in my news feed:
"Sent someone to a far away town called valueville with 44 on 567j5 in 3bet pot." and then i come across this thread literally a matter of minutes later.
Anyone who calls it valueville and not valuetown deserves to be punished anyway.

GL getting your money back OP, shipping you run good.

this is one of the reasons I don't swap, negative freerolling yourself isn't fun.

I volunteer to be a neutral judge

I think it's time for Admo to make a site
07-10-2012 , 10:23 PM
Sigh.

Want to sympathise with you OP but with his history you shoulda known better but what is done is done. Hopefully people don't make the same mistake again. Gl getting your money.

Oh and yeah it's 5% of the full cash you are entitled to......as if there was any doubt.

scum

a far away TOWN called valueVILLE?

Honestly, i know its going to sound LOL, and you might get equity owned again but you should just have him give you $4800 (or w/e you think you are owed) in equity in his tournaments

At least that way you can convince yourself you weren't scammed ... im not trying to be a dick, it sucks but it might help u sleep at night
07-10-2012 , 11:26 PM
what's the guy history?
07-10-2012 , 11:39 PM
I don't really get why people continue to make deals with known scammers.. Are there really that few stand-up good players left these days?

It really is a disgusting world we live in.
07-10-2012 , 11:46 PM
kind of mind boggling that 1) it takes ages for him to get any $ to you and 2) that he didnt think about him not having a 100% of himself/being in MU etc. and specifying that in ur swap.

obv ur entitled to the full 5%, every neutral person will agree with that.
07-11-2012 , 12:16 AM
Is this the same guy representing Sky Poker in the main event?

It's probably a bit different when your sharing a room with the guy! you don't expect him to just do a runner like that!
07-11-2012 , 01:12 AM
If I'm OP's dad I say: It's your own fault, what'd you expect?

If I'm Wright's dad I say: You're going to Hell, but good work.

I have a relative that used to blow off paying back people exactly like this guy did in the chat but in real life. Always promising to pay the next day or what ever. It was unbelievably effective since the amounts was much smaller and not poker related. People would just forget and forgive.

The two times I saw him pay back debts was when the person he owed was ready and willing to fight even tho he was much bigger and stronger and would of won anyhow.
