The only thing I've said (agreement?) about the situation is that I will try and get these threads locked if I receive full payment. This was said through Skype via a friend - not directly.

Sounds like OP was on a bit of a freeroll.. mention a 5% swap to someone, if they don't cash then it's forgotten, and if they do cash, claim you thought there was an agreement

Anyway.. OP says that a 5% swap was agreed; villain says that it wasn't. For people reading this thread who don't know either of the players involved, why should we take OP's word over villain's? Both stories could be embellished.

2) How is that even remotely an argument for something like this (or ANYthing for that matter), on the basis that something is better than nothing? What if someone burgled your house and took your possessions, and then offered you just 1 item back, because it's better than nothing, you'd be **** furious and rightly so!

I have no clue how people can argue that we can talk about the EV of something over nothing here. It's not about any sort of $$$ EV here, that's the exact reason why scammers screw people.
