How many people chop in WSOP events? I know WSOP doesnt facilitate chopping and how does this happen when two players are HU and the difference between 1st and 2nd is always phenomenal. Any horror stories you guys have heard about? Does other properties(Venetian, Wynn etc.) facilitate chopping in big tourneys??

This definitely is the wrong forum for this question. Should be moved to “tournament events” or “LVL”

Can you help me delete this post? I have created a new post in tournament events.

This seems like the right place for it imo. Since this stuff is categorically under the table, we're in the realm of gossip.

I found this thread interesting, but didn't reply yesterday as I felt I had nothing to contribute. As far as I know, there aren't any public stories or well known rumors about WSOP chops. I know a few people that have tried to negotiate them, but in each case they decided to just play for it.

I would say that it's probably a very bad idea to do this unless you know your opponent very well and/or are comfortable making unenforceable gentleman's agreements for large amounts of money.

Greg Merson made a deal w/ Jesse Syliva. He talked about it on his pod with Joe Ingram.

He mentioned that he ran into some issues sending the money, but eventually got it through.

WSOP are finally making some positive changes leading up to this summer. If they really want to step it up, they need to acknowledge deals happen all the time and players have a right to do what they want with their money. For years, WSOP acted like players shouldn’t have a voice. Right now PokerStars has very few great qualities. However, one of them is providing the players with an employee whose job is to help with deals. I’ve heard arguments about affecting points races. The way it needs to be is players are allowed to chop their money. That chop is made public. It is accurate on their Hendon Mob. It is accurate for tax purposes. Points are chopped as well, reflecting the exact monetary amount.
