I have a 1984 Binion's World Series coat with lots of monogramming and a royal flush in spades on the back. Red letters on blue. $3000. Better memento than some one else's braclet. I "think" a friend of mine has a main event bracelet, but I'm afraid to ask. I noticed poker players weren't decked out like Nascar drivers. Maybe we could start a deal of tourney winners getting a couple of the decks used to autograph and sell, like signed baseballs. O.J. has a lot of time on his paws and could consult with poker on how to maximize marketing of memorbilia.

Random broke ****** trying to get money for his addiction.
30k isn't enough for him LOLOLOL

I would need to get paid 30k to wear the bracelet of this unknown : D

EDIT : there is his ***** name in big letters on it, so yeah i would definitely need to get paid to wear it

IMO, Brad Booth should buy him this bracelet with scammed money and resell it to another sucker : D

I wonder if TJ cloutier is offended, in the original article it says something like TJ sold his for 4,006 and peter eastgate sold his but donated the $$ to charity. kind of like bringing TJ down in a way by implying he didnt donate it.

well the $$$ got donated to the dice tables in vegas, that should count as a charity, no?

I think people are underestimating the value of the bracelet. This is THE trophy for the world championship of 1991. There are no others. It's not like a Superbowl ring. It's true that he's no Doyle or Moss or Ungar. But neither is Eastgate. In 50 years who is going to know Eastgate from this guy? The only difference will be that this one is more of a relic. In the world of collectibles, this is a really unique piece that can be passed down through your family and might be worth a mint to your decendents. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me. Imagine if the WSOP had started a hundred years earlier and you had the championship bracelet from 1881. Would it matter that nobody has heard of the guy? I don't know if I would pay 30K for it, but I wouldn't be surprised if that turns out to be a great investment.

I think gambling away $1,000,000. would be very easy to do. Hell, thats the buy-in at the Aria.

He'll never get 30k for that now - he should have taken the offer when he got it. WSOP bracelets get more and more devalued year after year now that they have about 862 events.

You could be right.

This particular bracelet marked the first time in history that someone won $1,000,000 from a poker tournament. Any poker tournament!

In the previous year, Mansour Matloubi won a then record $850k to win the Main Event.

It is a "historic" bracelet. Plus, from what I understand Daugherty had to overcome a 10 to 1 chip deficit to win it.

come on.. seriously? who is going to pass down the 1991 m.e. bracelet which reads "brad" on it. pretty lame. I wouldnt pay more than the gold is worth. Yes the history of the tourney it is neat, but thats not worth much imo. it totally does matter who it belongs to as far as being desired by collectors.

you are right about people likely not knowing who eastgate is in 50 years, but right now everyone knows, which is what gave his bracelet added value. if eastgate tried to sell his 22 years after his win it wouldnt make nearly as much.

I don't understand why people keep talking about him gambling a million away and how depressing it is etc . . . He won that over 20 years ago FFS. General living expenses, a house, if he had kids and college etc . . . It wouldn't be difficult to spend that much in that time frame. I'm sure he lost some of it but I don't understand why everyone has the impression he is a massive degenerate. Did I miss something?

I heard Huck Seed had half of Daugherty. Maybe John Hughes can confirm.

And there were other investors too, supposedly.

Besides the fact that I don't know why someone would want his bracelet in the first place; If I had a main event it would be way too sentimental for me to part with except for a reason like Eastgate's. Pure Charity, otherwise I am not low enough to sell it just to degen.

I also forgot to mention taxes. It's not like he has to be flat broke to try to make some cash off a bracelet, anyways.
