Seems like they are going to be leaving Merge and starting/joining Revolution Gaming. The change will be at the end of this month according to these stories.

actually, now that i read it, and what i know of Lock it seems they are being handcuffed by Merge and can't make improvements.. If this means, improvements in the software, and game selection, i'm all for it.. I love Lock and will stick with them. It's the best choice a US player has.

Might not actually be a bad thing. Lock = Cake now, and now you can join Lock and cash out just as fast or faster than Merge and Bovada.

Whatever Merge loses will be old Cake's gain. Fine by me if it means cashouts just improved overall for online poker.

ETA: Wonder what will happen to rakeback and promos?

hopefully now we'll have two decent networks though, instead of one.

Why do you think it will be a smaller player pool? What percentage of players on merge play through lock? If it is a high percentage, AND they are combining with the (albeit small) cake pool, and they are sure to draw additional players because they are new (myself included), their network could start out almost as big, if not bigger, than merge.

What it really comes down to is software, promotions, and cashouts. If they can get these three categories right, especially with offering fast cashouts, then they will grow quickly.

article said it was a top 3 skin of Merge.

Saw somewhere, Lock is 40% of the entire merge network. Hopefully this is a good thing. More series with bigger gtd's is fine by me

I do not see Lock as having more than 30% of the active traffic. The figure is probably closer to 25%.

It has to decrease Merge' player pool, so yea it sucks at least from my POV.

so does this mean that eventually someone from lock will be able to answer the "why doesn't onlypoker update to colt poker like the emails I got about it" question I've had for oh the past two weeks or so since 2+2 went down?

This article alleges that Lock makes up 40% of the Merge traffic, and that if all of their players follow them to the new network, they will become larger than Merge.

good news for merge grinders i would say.

there is no way lock has 40% of traffic on merge. just load up any table and count the black chip poker avatars.

I'm pretty sure you see the avatar of whatever skin you play on, if they are using a default avatar.

agree, I've never seen an avatar from a competing skin on RPM. As you said I'm pretty sure it defaults to the skin you're playing on.

I don't see it hurting Merge that much. People will just open up an account on another Merge skin, if they don't already have one.

One major benefit that I have not seen mentioned is that it will probably make for a safer option for US players. I would imagine that because it will be a new site, it will not be at risk to be shutdown for a while.

Question how does this affect existing Cake poker users? Do they still get rakeback or is that going to be abolished? These are questions that I hope will be answered very soon.

Most of the articles I've read about it report that Lock will be offering a new, even higher rakeback percentage than they currently offer. (I think it was stated in their press release).
