Wow, I don't even know what to say but props for being honest.
It takes a lot of nerve to openly come out and say you're an 80% favorite against literally the three best online NLHU players in the world (you did say in a live setting, to be fair...).

It seems to me that the most +EV life decision you could do right would be to issue the Costner Challenge (in much the same spirit of the Durrrr Challenge), offering 2:1 or 3:1 and taking on any online pro in a live HU match for $40k a pop.

No no you don't get it. OP has a family and cant gamble as a 4 to 1 favorite, so he trades instead. Makes sense, I heard most traders have a 95% edge on the market.

Must make for a tricky decision when he gets dealt AA and his opponent jams pre.

seriously, troll posts detract from epic thread.

also seriously:

EDD,

I understand you cannot afford to risk much more than 40k in a HU match right now. However, if you believe you are anywhere near 80% to win and can get +120, you should ask some of your friends (who are the best live players per capita, and thus assumedly make bank) to back you some funds. Think about the equity you'd be passing up if you didn't.

I assure you, it seems that way, but it's not. I'd feel the way you do had I not sat next to him for 2 hours and heard much of what you see in this thread.

you sure can beat a dead horse, I think by this point everyone in the thread is well aware of how you feel on the issue to the point of it being annoying and pathetic.

OK I think you can lay off now. As of right now it looks like this match will actually happen, and he should get props for putting his money where his mouth is.

If he backs out, then fire away.

Well to be fair It's been almost a week since the match was agreed on, yet it seems there hasn't been a time or place even mentioned.

EDDtown, just to be clear, we have agreed on the parameters of the match and are now just waiting for you to come up with the venue and logistics. Please let me know when you do so.

So to summarize, you are saying:

Take top players at activity A
Take top players at activity B

Have them all play activity A

And you argue that top activity A players are better at activity A than top activity B players

Considering no one has wanted to bet on EDD yet at -120, and samo is throwing down 125k at this price so I won't be able to get any. and i want action on this if it goes down. i'll throw up to 1k on samo at -130

Bit of an old and pointless thread. Most online players become live players and most live players have played online. But with the BF situation i guess all US players are live players only now.Does it really mean anything.

This. As well as the fact that even if he does play, and beat Samo, the endless inanity of much of what he has said in this thread still lives on. I personally still think this match is a 4/1 dog to happen.

I can tell you, there is a ton more skill & much bigger edge live for the players willing to learn.
I played in these games every day. What was your name in them?
