i guess the reason everyone is frustrated is because you do not budge at all in your thoughts. you believe every word that comes out of your mouth or that you write is god-given proof that you are correct. you could be correct on some level but there comes a point where you should self reflect and realize, oh maybe i was wrong about this statement. but no where have you shown any sort of understanding or compromise to some of the things you spew

Gabe, how much money would make it worth your while to have a "school off" with me?

I realize I haven't posted in the thread yet, so I'm presumably outside the scope of your comment, but I'd counter that I'm willing to take considerably worse odds than 10 to 1 (I'm assuming that you didn't mean to say you'd lay people 10). Depending on the topic, I'd estimate I'm a 4 or 5 to 1 dog, but I'd be willing to take 3 to 1, as I'm mostly just interested in seeing how you approach a more structured debate, particularly one with fewer annoying distractions.

While the NVGers in this thread seem unable to get past your occasional spelling and grammar mistakes, it seems to me that you have a fairly solid, if colloquial, grasp of the philosophical foundations of logic, and I'd expect the debate to be spirited and challenging.

Obviously, we'd have to come out of pocket a bit for the moderators, but there are plenty of local colleges and universities that routinely underpay their professors, so I doubt the cost would be overly significant to someone in your tax bracket (though we should probably do a best of 3 or or best of 5 format, to reduce variance, which will raise the price a bit). Further, given the stakes at which you typically play, I can't imagine you wanting to do this unless you stood to win at least 20k, relative to which the cost of moderators would be fairly small.

Regarding escrow, it isn't really my thing, but I can understand why you're insisting on it. So while I'm not thrilled to send a bunch of money to someone I don't know, I suppose it would be worth it if I got to meet John Dolan.

PM me if you're interested, and try not to let these NVGtards get you down.

As for the HU match I think everyone got a little wound up and out of line but I do understand why Samo got frustrated. Perhaps he didn't handle it perfectly but the escrow issue is standard in the online world, which is, after all where his experience lies. Samo is one of the original big winners in online poker and a match between you two would be a great test of your ideas.

I do have to say that Polov or whatever should IMO be banned. Making threats over the internet most likely violates some laws and could in some circumstances bring legal problems for the site.

Before he comes on to offer to fight me, I'm an old guy who walks funny and he would win the fight. It doesn't change the fact that he has acted like an angry 12 year old.
Hello sir,

I would never offer to fight anyone, but if someone (especially samo, for reasons i have explained at length) threatens to teach me a lesson, and when I just happen, as an act of god, to be flying to the place hes calling me to, how can i possibly not and no it violates no laws unless i go break his head and he decides to press charges or whatever its called here in the US then the forum posts can be used as evidence. Its all good though we needed threats of violence and samo blowing his horn in one stride and running away with his tail between his legs in the next for everyone to back off gabe a bit and see that all the stuff they have been attacking gabe for can be DIRECTLY applied to that ****** samo.

EDIT: its posts like the one below me that degenerate the intelligence level of threads in these forums, captain obvious ahahahahahha are you really that simple man, really?

Here's a new angle but finding qualified professors (unless Brandon's willing to do it for a few hundred bucks lol) might be difficult to find.

My main concern re: the fighting thing, is that a few minutes on google can show multiple instances where people have been criminally charged for making threats via the internet. Personally I doubt any of this reaches that level but its a bad precedent to allow such things to go unchecked IMO.

I'm sure Polov has better things to do than run around Boston looking for Samoleus and and I know that Samoleus has accomplished enough/made enough money in poker etc that he doesn't need to win a macho contest with a random member of 2+2.

One more quick aside. Before I discovered poker, I donated some money at the tables in Biloxi Mississippi. casinos while visiting some family in the area. They have some really nice establishments and in the course of going back and forth with Gabe lets not disparage a fine gambling town. Its not a backwater place.

I think it's around 50:1 that someone new is posting on Gabe's account, the difference in grammar and spelling alone is enough to set off alarms in the head of anyone who actually pays attention to the writing style, not to mention we all know someone as good at poker as Gabe is would NEVER give away these types of secrets that have brought him the incredible success he has found in live poker.

Also, decisional math?

Wow, this certainly turned out to be more entertaining then the usual "is so...is not" live vs online threads.

But LOL at people who think that either a single heads up match or a fist fight would actually prove anything in regards to the original premise stated in the OP, or who is the better poker player.

Not sure who thinks that, other than OP. Variance in poker is quite high enough that even someone as delusional as Gabe "All Talk" Costner, with all his terrible plays, can STILL beat an incredible player like Samo over a small sample. Not sure it would allow for his gf to beat me tho, but for 2-1, I'll gladly test it.

This describes Russ Hamilton, Capt. Tom Franklin, Chino Reem, Dutch Boyd, etc. I wouldn't take their word for it at all.

Some of the easy money has left the game because he wins all the time , now its even tougher.

However what if John Doe & Townsend played together live. Is it possilble that John Doe could own townsend, I would say yes.
All Talk, possible that John Doe could own Townsend is a far cry from saying that the top 10 players in the world will ALWAYS be bad players.

Again, you haven't addressed the issues about overvaluing tells, about how sometimes tells don't even matter (though you have been known to be rock solid on a tell and still make the wrong decision). Basic fundamentals win. Tell enhance that winning only if you have basic skills. That's why John Doe is not likely to beat Townsend, but Doyle Brunson would have a much better chance.

So it looks like All Talk's hit upon his favoured excuse for ducking matches. Strange how he forgot to mention his pathological aversion to escrow when originally challenged by Samo, but now it's something he won't do. So we're back to the 'I'm the best in the world but you have to come to me with no guarantee of a game'.

Hey All Talk, I will play you any time at poker despite having as little credentials to do so as you do to play Samo. You just have to fly to Australia to do it and bring your backpack full of money. Don't worry, I won't Costner out on you at the last minute, you can trust me despite having no reason to do so.

It tilts me too much to trawl through all this nonsense, can someone just confirm that gabe did duck the samo challenge and has gone back to just ranting and not putting up any money even thou it is in his eyes clearly massively +EV (lololool) to do so?

Also Gabe care to explain why u played some 0.02/0.05 under a year ago on tilt?

Also not sure exactly what PageUp was getting at cause I assume this has veered off topic again but it was polite well put and seemed an interesting point be good to hear gabe's delusions on that.

confirmed Gabe officially agreed to a match with samoleus and then backed out twice (once because of an escrow issue and once because samo was mean)

Gabe, can we make it official that you refuse to use your friend as an escrow to play HU for 40k with someone you have never met that is willing to fly to your hometown to play you at your convenience in a match you believe yourself to be a >80% favorite?

you two read the thread just as often as i do, and invested is a hilarious word to use. i'm sorry that i post my opinions more often and am repetitive every 10 pages or so when Gabe refuses to respond to natural questions. you should feel mature, if not by your reasoning more intelligent, because you post ITT less often than i do.
