And integrity isn't really the issue anyway. We aren't talking about him lying and saying he loves Antonio. It's about having the maturity to understand that having integrity doesn't preclude someone from keeping private things private. No one has the requirement to air personal feelings on public media. Obviously, Lex wanted to do so, or he wouldn't have done so. He could have chosen to simply answer the question by saying something like "you know, that's a personal issue between myself and Antonio, and I don't think it is appropriate to discuss it here". But instead, he relished the opportunity to spill his guts and let out all the butthurt he has been carrying around all this time over such a meaningless perceived attack on his ego. Thus the enthusiastic "**** that guy!" when he was retelling the story.
I agree with the he could have said thats a personal issue type deal.

I think the main issue is that I'm really sick of the environment of the poker world. There are some really good people, but a lot of the players carry themselves with a sense of entitlement. Almost as if the poker world is the only thing that exist. Then they start referring to people, who aren't as good at poker, by saying fish, idiot, moron etc. Or they'd treat people in service jobs like ****. it just makes it a very toxic environment and it does nothing to help the poker world grow. I understand for a lot of young guys that make a ton of money suddenly, it's hard and it's something you have to learn. It just seem like a lot of people get stuck in that behavior.
Lex, you are playing this game far longer than I do and I can understand what you are talking about. That is one of the reasons I never really got in touch with too many poker players because I simply don't share the habits a standard poker player does.

Your statement of how poker players treat service personal reminds me of a guy at the EPT Prague. He ordered a muffin and coffee and got very mad when the coffee arrived without the muffin, he basically said he doesn't want the muffin 2 or 3 minutes later and how the service is unable to serve it at the same time. That guy simply had no emptathy of how the service girl was alone down there in the cashgames lobby running her feet off. Last but ont least it probably wasn't even her fault.

Anyway, I think you need to deeply look into your heart and think about if there is more you want to accomplish in your life other than winning a tournament and making money to spew it off getting drunk with people you dislike. I know that myself because every day I grind too much I know I am wasting my life. The world has simply much more to offer than poker. To me that is being socially active and involved into whats going on around me.

Anyone who has spent years in several different career fields (with poker just being a hopefully profitable hobby) will tell you the same, that poker is no different than any other field in terms of human behavior.
This is simply not true. Yes, people like bankers, politicians will be just as much of a dick but there are so many other working feelds where people treat each other with a lot of respect, teachers for example. What you mean is that most jobs, where money and power is a huge factor, make human being greedy and disrespectful.

I am not sure if wealth cannot be archieved without money (English Language), because happiness surely can be.

My two cents.

First, I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with airing your frustrations with someone in the 'community' if you feel you been slighted/mistreated.

People speculate all the time about pros and the point of these podcasts is the get firsthand gossip/insight.

Lastly and anecdotally, when I met Antonio a few years ago as a fanboy, I asked him if I could get a quick photo and he agreed. When I set my backpack down in the Rio to grab my phone he almost immediately replied saying "I thought you said quick". I'm not kidding it was 2 seconds. He may have found Jesus and seen the light but IN MY OPINION Antonio is a douchebag.

Perhaps Lex's personal views have changed as he has matured and experienced the poker community more thoroughly. Naturally, the more one thinks about how they were made to feel, the stronger the opinion they are going to have. At least Lex has the balls to voice his dislike and is not some two face individual. Arguably, poker players are good at pattern recognition and Lex recognized a pattern that he disliked involving Antonio and came to a realization. Respect to Lex.

When you're invited to a social event, taking a guest is fine, but taking 4 guests is taking the piss.

No, you weren't. You want to put him to death. Own it, brotha.

But I agree with MiRee about GitMo although I'm a little squeamish about waterboarding — my state is still technically in a drought.

Lol this has been addressed numerous times. Lex already had plans to go to dinner with his 4 friends. Antonio asked Lex to dinner and Lex told him about having plans with his friends and that he could only go if his friends could come since he wasn't gonna ditch his friends.

If Antonio had simply said, "oh ok, no worries bud but tonight I just wanted a smaller group, etc maybe another time." Lex would have had no problem with it. Instead, Antonio acted like this invitation was such a massive event for Lex's life that he couldn't comprehend someone turning it down.

+1 to Lex being right in this situation

-1 to Lex for something so trivially inane it hardly bears repeating to a friend let alone making a podcast for the world.

Lets end this thread with a total breakdown of the situation, spoken in the only language that makes sense to use, Bro language -

If the question is whether Lex is out of line for bringing this up? Then the answer is yes.

When someone asks you to hang out, or to dinner and you are like cool "I'm going to bring 4 dudes" then it's an immediate "uh some other time" to any normal youngish dude. For a few ridic obvious reasons, the ones not brought up are - maybe they were planning on partying at a club after? To a guy who hangs out in the club scene a lot (antonio) it's just not an option to bring that many rando dudes to ur hooks. Get real, it's an awful look. Also maybe antonio was planning on paying? Like no we are going to Nobu - not dropping an extra G on ur 4 dude friends?

If you are Lex and a bit more socially competent, you'd say ah sorry man, kicking it with my 4 buddies from home some other time, and see how antonio reacts. Also I see Antonio just giving him a little flack being like ahh gonna turn me down man! Not like a gravely serious, not cool bro, not cool. Chill Lex, kind of hating.

If the questions is whether Antonio Esfandiari is a douche? The answer is yes.

But Douche isn't really a complete negative in this sense. It's more just a style. Dan Bilzerian is proudly douchey macho for example. Popping bottles, flashing money, designer clothes, etc. Antonio is going out to clubs in Hollywood or would hang out in the Marina in SF. Lex lives in Silver Lake, Antonio lives in Beverly hills. This is what Lex is getting at with the lets pop cristal comment. Antonio needs to just embrace this style difference, not send butthurt tweets saying how his feelings are hurt, holy moly that was lame. Be like lol ya man, wasn't probably trying to hang with your 4 dorky dudes you tool, can't believe this has bugged you, get a life. Then go back to ur life. Conversation done.

If the question is whether Antonio goes beyond just the lifestyle/ social stigma of douchey and is an annoying douchey personality that is off putting then the answer is also yes.

The whole "weeeee" "Live your life kid!" "How do you do it kid? Win all the money!" Wear no shoes at the table cuz i'm so sick (When you are a pretty big nit in reality) is cringe worthy. Wouldn't sweat it too much, antonio is crushing life. Antonio, f the haters. And Lex, yah he's douchey whatevs ur kinda hating but i feel you.

Convo done.
