Just bought a house in Round Rock. Will be there beginning June 10th. Hopefully, we can play sometime.

Gonna try the Texas Card House PLO tonight. I imagine it plays too small for me, but curious enough to see. LMK if any of you want to meet.

Re: Legal poker in Texas

I was there last night. Pleasantly surprised by the action they had. There was at least 7-8 grand on the table for most of the night in a 1-2 game. Players were loading up for 500 or more when they were felt. Three tables were active almost all the night. Left around 1 and they still had couple of tables running with 10 players each. I heard from some people that they drove all the way from San Antonio which is a 90min drive one way.

Played there for the past two nights- great little place i almost made it into the money for the 60 dollar tournament. Also i was a little concerned about the security of the place but there's cameras everywhere and a security guard. Definitely hope this place sticks around.

just read article. owner looks pretty damn legit and obv knows what he is doing with governmental affairs experience. Club looks very well done. Austin would be gold mine for something like this. Though I never lived there, I spent a lot of time in Austin while working for Dell throughout the 90's, I assume area is still booming. IF done correctly opportunity in all of TX for something like this is quite large.

I get the subscription model which has been used in other places. but what what did you notice about dealer tips in cash games? Was it strictly enforced NO TIPPING or wink wink voluntary tip if you want to wink wink.

Dealer tip and wages is usually the #2 sticking point for these membership business models.

It's strictly no tips for the dealers.

Hey Meks, I'm in Vegas right now. But when I come back from the Main I would like to check it out. Can you tell me where it is?

Likely not. Though etbale will help with staffing issues, states gaming laws will almost always have definition of a slot machine which an etable could likely fall under. Operating a slot machine outside of a licensed casino is illegal just about everywhere.

Back when I was in this business, we had a 17 etable charity poker room in Cleveland OH legally operating. An individual who did not want the room to remain open convinced the Atty General to change is opinion and conclude that etable was a slot machine. Based on the actual statute you could realistically argue it either way.

Charity poker rooms were legal. Slot machines were not. We had to close room immediately, unfortunately.

shooting at the mancave last night, the place by anderson/lamar

http://kxan.com/2015/07/07/police-in...anderson-lane/

I've been to the legal room a few times and was astounded by how bad the players were, but couldn't get any cards to take advantage of it. Finished just out of the money in the two tournaments I entered. At the cash game people were calling all in's pre flop with K7, JT, J7 type hands. I'd go more often but it's so damn far south.

If anyone wants to go to underground games feel free to PM me, I've been to most of them.

How do the dealers make money if no tipping is allowed?

Is this a competing business different from the OP? I've never been to either as I live a couple hours away.. I'd rather just play online than make the drive.

Yeah, it's a competing business, but not exactly the same business model, they take a rake.

How long until all these places are shut down? I'm assuming once a place is opened in Dallas/Ft. Worth and Winstar gets wind of it.

operating a club and taking rake is 100% illegal in state of TX and every other state (with a few minor exceptions). Evidently the local sheriffs/police in Houston don't care as alt clubs there.

Lou,
I know of a few underground game sin H-Town, but I don't know of any that are operating out of clubs. Please share here or PM me details please.
