btw im not a LA fan, i dont even know who the guy is. im just defending rational thought.
lol fukn moron, they would get a smaller share because the next player on the waiting list is a good regular.
This furthermore points to the fact that people just dont like him because hes a fkn kunt(the fact that they don't want him at the table over someone who is better than him).

He's widely hated for completely valid reasons, i encourage slowrolling him

Re: leatherass runs bad :(

Gotta love this guy. From his latest blog....

This past week has been pretty fun. Got some golf in and didn’t follow the diet quite as well as usual, but I had fun at least. I watched Will Farrel’s HBO comedy skit making fun of George Bush last night, but didn’t love it. I thought it could’ve been way funnier, but it was OK. I also had an experience at the bars on Friday that I am not accustomed to. My wife and I’s trainer was having a birthday party at a Mcmenamen’s restaurant upstairs dancing area in downtown Portland and asked us to come. When we got there the line was 90 minutes long and wrapped around outside in 40 degree weather. We weren’t dressed for standing outside and I just wouldn’t wait in a line like that for pretty much anything anyway. So I walked up front to the bouncer and asked him what we could do to get in. He said not for a thousand dollars could we get in. I was like, “Is this a joke?” He said it was no joke and I would have to wait in the back of the line.

I can’t remember a time where you couldn’t bypass a line by giving the bouncer a few bucks. Isn’t that why they take a job like that? It just doesn’t seem like that would be a job that you would want to take unless it was for the tips. Standing outside for barely more than minimum wage in 40 degree weather on the weekend nights doesn’t seem like a job that a young guy would be too excited about unless it was for the palm greasing. Plus I thought who the hell turns down free money in this economy? Either way we had to miss her birthday party because of it since it wasn’t even an option to stand in line with the clothes we were wearing.

what a frugal bastard, either pay the bouncer the 1/5 BI or hang out with better looking people/girls and cut the line

juke - reading comprehension: The bouncer told him he could NOT pay him extra money to get in faster.

It must be an American tactic then Bob. I didn't realise that was the done thing.

I just thought it was poor form to criticise the bouncer for doing his job correctly. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to pick and choose jobs - whether they are minimum wage or not.

Man that blog about how bad he is running makes it sound like he is going broke, but looking at tablesratings it looks like he is at least breaking even.

You might have seen a problem with it if you'd been waiting in line for 2 hours to get in just to watch the bouncer take a bribe to let someone who just got there pass right by you?

Do you just threaten to ban the bouncer's 2p2 account and they let you slip right in?

Yes, I realise corruption happens a lot - I just didn't realise it was something we should strive towards and complain about when it doesn't happen.

Just looks like he made a very boring word play with "on line" instead of "in line".

And this:

I don't know if he was complaining as much as he was just surprised.

When the norm that happens in clubs pretty much everywhere is not upheld in some place that's a bit surprising. It's hardly corruption. People grease palms to skip the line all the time. And I have been in line for a place before and seen the bouncers let in people ahead of me. I don't feel bad. Because I know how the world works. Sometimes the people let in ahead of me has also included girls whom the bouncers found to be much sexier than me evidently as well as VIP types or regulars.

Like Leatherass, I'm kind of surprised a bouncer would turn down a proposal like this because it's pretty standard just about anywhere. And I too would choose to go elsewhere than stand for 90 minutes in a cold rain.

funny aside

last year for the aussie millions in melbourne, a few guys went to a bar/club for some drinks, the line was maybe 25 ppl long but we couldnt be bothered to wait. we go to the bouncer and offer him $100 to let us in, he says, "whoa no i cant take that, thats too much." i think he ends up taking $20 or $50 and we are ushered in from the 'vip line'

I don't mind or care how he plays poker. He is just jackass/crybaby IRL. I only think its shady that doesn't play or instruct his best when he makes a video, cause he doesn't want players to be able to win like him. Just save everyones time and do not make all your BS videos, that do not represent how you really win money. LAGy in video utter nit when he actually plays.

Kind of curious about this, as im a member at stox. Do most of you think he's actually intentionally trying to mislead players and teach a losing style? That would be pretty awful if true. He talks about how he'd play like a super loose 40/30ish style or something ridiculous if he was playing those games seriously. Kind of funny, since I don't know of any significant midstakes winners who play this way... thoughts?

LA has a good sense of humor.
I've watched this video about ten times in the last week. It is pure genius. I thought I was going to stroke out at one point from laughter.

Re: leatherass runs bad :(

just my 2c about leatherass. I joined stoxpoker partly because he was a coach. I have been a bit disappointed at the quality of some of his videos where he seems like he was just going through the motions. sometimes his explanations for actions are rambling and a bit confused. the NL vids by pokey, splitsuit, ed miller and even a few member videos are streets ahead in terms of useful information. The main thing I get from leatherass is that it is possible with hard work and persistence to make something from this game.

I think he's basically a decent person, ultra competitive and I got to admire is his work ethic
