I rarely sit in -EV games, but I also rarely whale hunt. I pick a limit where I have a nice edge over the average player and I don't game select. I don't think playing with an edge is wrong. I think not contributing the health of the games is and I play limits where I don't have to search out and find the weakest players.

It makes me feel kinda of dirty to search out and beat some drunk kid out his roll or even some rich sucker. If they sit in my games that is fine, but I am not going to actively look for the weakest players. I enjoy the challenge more than the money.

I'm not chirping LA here but why does he have a sense of fulfillment in life? Is playing 1 million hands of poker a year fulfilling?

I think I am jealous of pretty much anyone for whom a really terrible month is 'only' making $40k (same for anyone who makes $1M in a year. I guess this makes me jealous of quite a few people.

fwiw i've heard almost everyone claim that LA sits out when fish sit out, so while there is a ton of groupthink going on both ITT and the slowroll LA thread, i'm not at all inclined to believe LA on this issue.

I kind of understand that Bob....but not really. I play 20K hands a month to live a very comfortable lifestyle. Travelling the world to follow the sun, sport every day and a beautiful girlfriend who shares my love for getting smashed! :P

I used to be a workaholic in my early twenties and can sympathise with the anxiety problems he has. Mine were definitely work related. It was obvious I had to make a change and, to quote Trainspotting, I decided to "Choose Life".

100K a month challenge is not on his blog, it is a thread he make at BBV, saying he can be profitable playing 50% vp$ip at 2/4 and 3/6. It is not a whine, it is just interesting to see if he can prove what he wrote. If he have a physical condition that is dangerous to his health to do that challenge, maybe he could do a 50K challenge instead.

Let me sum this thread up:

Leatherass thinks he runs bad, complains about it in his blog. This makes many people roll their eyes, especially the part about "I only won 40K this month".

Leatherass's opponents read his blog and get really pissed when he says things such as, "I know I have a huge on the regulars", "If I only played 8 tables my PTBB/100 would be 5-6" etc.

Leatherass's opponents see a thread about Leatherass, and decide to bash him cause they're so irritated with the things he writes and they don't have a blog of they're own.

Leatherass supporters chime in to support their guy.

My advice: If you hate this guy, just don't read his blog.

Sounds like a lot of people bitching about moral codes in poker... stfu please? If there arent enough games at the stakes you want to play you move down. Stop whining because someone is more disciplined/dedicated and takes advantage of situations presented.

FWIW I've never seen an LA video, i've only heard of him through this site. I just think the HS regs who chipped in have been whiny and hypocritical.

And for those of you who say that you play in games with tough players simply to bait the fish.... cmon... other people have ripped on that idea better than I can. And if you dont get it please realize that you are really trying to bait the fish.... and la simply plays when the fish are biting. The fish will still play games, but maybe not at the limit you want. If you're playing 40k nl STOP ****ING WHINING. yah la should shut the **** up and realize his life isnt too bad... but the hs regs who have responded in this thread are quite snobby.
