Um, that was his last 30K hands. BFD if that's what he's complaining about.

In other spots he mentions running +4bb for 300K hands or whatever, and what he doesn't seem to realize is that he IS running good during those stretches.

To his credit, he acknowledges the fact that he might not realize when he is running good.

Agreed. He sort of took a "wait and see" approach. What he wrote in his blog were clearly his current emotions, but he also stated that his mind could be tricking him or whatever, and he would see what the results stated, and make a decision from there.

From his blog:

I honestly due hope to get some resolution on this and I would LOVE to find out that I am actually running normally and that the reason it feels bad is because of the fluky way my winnings are distributed. I think I could really sleep a lot easier at night if that was the case because I just feel like there is a black cloud over my head when it comes to poker. I’ll keep you guys posted on the findings. I think it will be an interesting study to do, because it will be an interesting study on the human brain.
Running bad tends to consume you. I myself recognize the "gotta analyze my luck by crunching numbers" phase and that mindset only prolongs the downswing.

And no dude, it is not interesting. It won't make you sleep better. It will only make you focus on the past more. Drop it. Move on. Take a week or two off to gain some perspective. Nobody likes a whiner.

Read the first post (didn't click the link) and your first follow up post which was the third post of this thread:

Not sure why you posted this since all it does is make you look like a gigantic jackass ... and makes me emphasize with anyone (especially Leatherass) who would would like to beat your ass .... or maybe even get a UFC fighter to do it or w/e.

I just don't get it. Why do you post a chat log that makes you look like an ass?

P.S. I'm a tad drunk so maybe I went a bit far .... but that chat is very disgusting on your part IMO. Terrible.

Maybe soething in the link would make it seem different. But otherwise your chatting is despicable IMO.

lol...anyone listen to his pokercast episode with him and Jared talking about not tilting and being objective about wins losses. aka he was on a heater and doesn't understand what it feels like until now when hes running slightly below expectation.

poker ev etc doesn't mean anything either...its like omg i picked up AA 49 times back to back and lost it 15 times...when i only shoulda lost 10. How you run is entirely not up to you...some people run good some don't.

As much as he plays, if a -40k below ev stretch at 25/50 over 4 days is something to cry about...he still has yet to learn what running bad is.

"If I find out that I am just running slightly above EV for long stretches and way below EV for shorter stretches with the end result being a fair shake of things, then I honestly will approach poker and bad runs entirely differently. I will look at them as a necessary evil and be grateful for everything I have."

If I find out I have actually run bad and deserved more from my noble grinding than i received I will be forever bitter for the success I have had. Even when I put that last 1500 bucks or whatever in when it was all i had to left to my name and turned it into however many million. If I ran below ev I still have no reason to be grateful for any of this because I surely deserved more.

To be honest, if there was a legitimate way to prove run badness I'd be willing to put a lotta money up against anyone just as I'm sure everyone else feels. But the fact that some of us have found poker and have had success in it even if we deserved a lot more in EV doesn't mean we still shouldn't be grateful for it. Doesn't make running like a pissed off puerto rican over tens of thousands of hands any less mind exploding either.

I am confused though, isn't leatherass the exact opposite of a bumhunter? A man who grinds midstakes tirelessly with no particular table or opponent selection and apparently no perspective on life and some chat steam issues?

no, he sits out or leaves when fish sit out. he leaves when fish bust. he never starts tbls or keeps tbls from breaking. he has amazing game selection.

How is this not a good thing?

It basically means he's good at table selecting. I don't get how people call it "bum hunting" and mean it in a derogatory manner. Table selecting well is important. It can increase your winrate a good bit. I try to sit at the best tables and avoid the worst tables at the games that I play. So, yea.

i think most people when on a bad run have these kinds of thoughts cross their mind. smart people then slap themselves in the face and look to improve their game, maybe vent to some friends. that blog post from such an experienced player is very embarrassing. you should be humbled and learn from a downswing, not become a bigger douche.

first off some of the things he does like sitting out when the fish sits out and sitting back in as soon as they do is extremely poor etiquette. aside from that i never said game selection isnt a good thing...im just pointing out to shaniac that leatherass isn't the opposite of a bumhunter.

and all that said it just makes his blog post 10x funnier. the fact that his ego is so big he thinks he should be winning 5ptbb/100 when in fact hes probably somewhere between a 2-3ptbb/100 winner and w/o game selection lower than that. hes got such a big ego that he never considered once that 2-3ptbb/100 is probably what he should be winning so he writes a big long post crying about how bad he runs instead of spending the time thinking about why he doesnt win as much as he did 2 years ago.

i havent ran bad for anywhere near 6 months, but when you get into a downswing, you can just feel it

time and again, its set over set or aa against kk

hurts after awhile, so i feel for him

this is just hilarious, of all the people to cry like in this blog, I'd have *least* expected it from the guy whose played more hands and made more money than almost anyone.

i think life is overrated with so much money if u spend all day angry peeing in bottles. but maybe, just maybe, this is an exaggeration. i hope not, cause it would be funnier.
