Maybe what we do? Their have been countless attempts by U.S. legislatures to sneak anti-gambling bills into law and the PPA has battled them every step of the way. You're telling me in 6 months you couldn't organize any form of influential protest (Which obviously you could've, because you're doing it now.) You don't think having every French player boycott Pokerstars for months would influence legislatures decision to impose ridiculous licensing fee's?

A .com protest won't do ****. You need to keep blocking/protesting .FR to express your discontent to the government. Stars is not an innocent victim, they knew what they were getting into. If Stars and every poker site has to leave the French market then your gov't will be forced take action. Ramp up the pressure and you should get results IMO, gl.

FYI, we had no idea the rake was to be raise until the .fr sites were online. The whole law was implemented aburdly quickly b/c the bill also concerned sport betting (and the govt obviously wanted it implemented before the wc), so not only were we completely kept in the dark but two months ago everyone was thinking .fr sites wouldn't be there until october or sth similar.

And lol@organizing an influential protest, you have no clue about any culture other than America its so funny, the image of poker in Europe is totally different and the proportion of poker players in the population is ridiculously tiny compared to the US.

Finally, a .com strike obviously hurts ps'image, even someone as clueless as you should see why it will actually do ****.

I have thought about this situation for quite some time.

While I wholeheartedly support my fellow Poker Players in France with respect to changing the horrible and stupid law they were just subjected too, I cannot agree that disrupting PokerStars.com is a legitimate means of achieving that noble result.

PokerStars is not the enemy. In fact, they are possibly the best ally players could have in a situation like this. Trying to bully PokerStars into trying to bully the French government is not, IMHO, going to be an effective tactic.

I am more than willing to listen to other ways in which I can help the effort in France, but not this one.

I have made a very lengthy post of my reasoning in the legislation forum: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/57.../#post20161343 and I invite further discussion of the matter.

2. The whole french rake thing is a big big concern, not only can this happen to other country's but the new rake is ridiculous and YES, Pokerstars can take at least part of this tax on their behalf.

3. Writing a letter to the government ? Oh yes that works all the time, you just send a nice little letter to Mr. President and trust me, he WILL read it, he WILL reply, and he WILL take action. trust me, it's true. Seriously GTFO, since when does governments care about poker players ?

4. Write a letter to Pokerstars ? Yeah that works ****ing good too, they always reply (they almost allways do actually) with a nice "Thank you for your concern, we'll take this into consideration". In other words, the person reading it just used the standard reply #17 and went on with his day.

5. How else are we supposed to protest ? This have proven already to seriously alarm the website, blocking out tables = no rake = no money. They are seriously scared about this and we are already getting some results. 500 random people protesting against the government by sending letters doesn't work as well as 10 CEO's of big Gaming industries that bring a LOT of tax to the government.

6. Quit play on PS : Yeah right, they just increased, the price of the Big Mac by 1$, you're pissed off, you're not going to McDonald's anymore. What changed ? Mr McDonalds keeps making manies and you won't eat Big Macs but 8 billion other people are still eating Big Macs, except for the other 100 000 pissed off people.

The sit-out method is working great. If you want things to get better, participate. If you don't give a **** and are happy about the rake you're paying, the higher rake you might be paying in the future, and other problems, then sure, go and have fun playing and be pissed off for 6 hours while some people are trying to accomplish something.

+1
