LA Female Poker Pro Found Slain

https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/bur...oakland-county

https://www.theoaklandpress.com/news...c5c2a45bd.html

Burnt remains found in a DNR parking lot in Northern Oakland county, Michigan recently identified as Susie Zhao. If you've played live in LA in the last decade at the Commerce or Hollywood Park you probably have heard of her. She had quite a bit of online/tournament results and was working as the poker host at HPC. This is tragic news, hope they catch whoever did this and bring them to justice.

RIP Susie

Burning the body too.

I would tend to think she was targeted instead of a random crime. Maybe she has a lot of cash and someone knew it.

Sadness

She was a regular at the charity room games in Waterford. She may have also played in the home games in the area as well. Could be someone connected to those games.

Re: LA Female Poker Pro Found Slain

Very sad news. She was always jovial and optimistic to me. We hung out a few times in LA. She contacted me in February on FB messenger and was considering coming out to the Netherlands (where I'm currently staying). We weren't very close but I'm ultra depressed now. I understand how a human could rob someone for cash but burning and dumping their body is insane and horrendous. I pray they catch the person(s) responsible.

Meh, this is a very emotional crime. Whoever did this knew her and hated her, not sure why.. Robbers 95% of the time just want the cash quickly as possible. The times where robberies go wrong and someone dies, its over quick. Whoever did this knew they wanted her dead and took the time to do it.

Im guessing it has nothing to do with robbery and maybe just an ex lover or pathetic incel.

Either way, RIP to her and condolences to her family.

Youíre probably right now that you put it that way. Robbery is a very minor crime compared to murder.

Given the covid shutdowns and unemployment however, money could be a factor. Just a depressing situation all around.

.
Even a dumb robber, who went through the trouble of burning the body, would know to bury the remains instead of leaving it in a parking lot. It sure looks like a hateful crime even if it doesn't meet the legal definition.

This is very sad. She was such a fun and positive person. I wouldn't be playing professional poker if it wasn't for her. Susie will be missed.

****!! I used to play PLO with her all the time at the Bike. Always friendly, we used to battle daily. This plus Rich passing, I’m just gutted today.

Susie and I graduated in the same class 11 years ago. A friendly face to see the few times I played live tourneys and by all accounts amazing at the tables. RIP

RIP. What a senseless and horrible crime. Such a great person in the poker community. Was the star of one of the most hilarious LATB hands ever where she cracks Randall Emmett’s AA with AK twice. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qWgmBDaOo_U

We played together in a mixed home game in Chicago for years. She was always great energy, welcoming, and fun to be around. I can hear her voice easily, and it's beyond devastating knowing we wont cross paths again. <3 Susie, you will never be forgotten

Re: LA Female Poker Pro Found Slain

Seems like a weirdly high number of young deaths in poker compared to most professions.

I donít believe this. Show me statistics that probe professional poker players die at a younger age compared to other professions.

Re: LA Female Poker Pro Found Slain

A couple deaths a year of those under 40 in a very small community seems way higher than national average. How many players are there that if they die would generate a story? And there are a few other deaths not publicized that I know about as well.
