Learned Susie had mental illness and was suffering from symptoms when this terrible crime happened. Reminder that those with mental disorders are the normally the victims not the perpetrators. What a nightmare. RIP. Hope there’s a poker table up in heaven for her.
Wow thanks so much for sharing this article. Eye opening. Mental illness seriousness can't be understated.

In 2010, after graduating from college with a psychology degree, she headed to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of being a professional poker player. She spent the next ten years there, playing cash games at local casinos and often traveled between L.A. and Las Vegas for tournaments. She was an up-and-comer, having earned around $200,000 – not enough to live a life of luxury but enough to pay the bills. She supposedly had a killer poker face.
Not to derail but once again, another journalist who doesn’t play poker having no **** clue when they’re talking about. Susie’s Hendon Mob showed she won 200k in donkaments but she could’ve won way more (or less) than that grinding cash. She was a 5/10 reg

Anywho, RIP Susie.

Not to be unkind to her tragic demise, but the way it ended for her suggests she was not crushing the LA cash games... This game can be brutal.

Sick final beat for a lost soul RIP. may her Killer burn in hell

What an absurd take... the killer obviously had some very serious mental disorders too (your article literally goes into detail about this), or are you saying the killer is also a victim?!

I don't think that was his point. It's about the writer portraying her subject accurately if she chooses to talk about Susie's poker results at all (almost insinuating a relevance) as a psychological profiling. I found the article poorly written, offers no new insight, and basically sensational. It's borderline disrespectful.

The only absurd take is you actually deciding to hit “submit” on your above comment. Switch to Sanka bro.

I agree the article was poorly written. But I hardly see the purpose of pointing out that a woman was was sexually abused, burned alive and murdered may not have been a poker crusher. Who cares.

Of course I am not saying that. Jeez. RIP Susie.

Exactly. The article was poorly researched and poorly written. I found it disrespectful for the author to pull a bunch of words out of her ass when writing about the life of someone whose life ended brutally. She was trying to give the reader a glimpse into SusieÂ’s life before her tragic end, assumed a bunch of BS and published it as truth.

That’s precisely why it offended me the author chose to write (inaccurately) about Susie’s poker results as though it played a role in what happened to her. Fwiw, I’ve listened to Susie on Bart Hansons podcast and watched her on livestream. I believe she was a crusher

I wrote 4 replies out and deleted them.

The article is shockingly distasteful and inaccurate, reposting it somewhere where it is likely seen by her family and friends is even more stupid.

She wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Sorry dumbos this put me on tilt.

How do you know she wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia? Iirc the author said she heard from family or friends that she was battling a mental disorder that was, or was like schizophrenia? Sorry I don’t want to give that stupid article another click.

I did not read the article as implying that her poker had anything to do with her murder, if anything it tied her mental instability to being particularly vulnerable and susceptible to what happened to her. The poker was just an interesting detail about her life the author included to humanize her. Most reading that she'd made $200k playing would be quite impressed. As as others have posted, we know that did not include her cash game success which over many years probably outstripped her tournament winnings by a lot and by accounts above she was a very good player so multiple 6-7 figures is certainly possible.

Anyway, I just thought the article conveyed a good message about people with mental illness needing support and how we usually aren't the perpetrators of violence but the victims. RIP Susie.

If you see anyone you know in serious mental distress, don't let them be alone please. Get them help so something terrible does not happen to them.

Yes an absolutely absurd take, and very disrespectful to post clickbait **** articles just to stir up attention on himself

Cant believe someone would bump an old thread about a woman who was raped and tortured to make it about himself and his own mental health issues. FFS some people choose to deal with there mental illnesses with dignity and don’t want to play the victim card especially when there a privliedged white male from a well to do family

Very well said thank you for naming all of that and hopefully helping him grow. It's hard to learn that type of self-reflection and awareness it took me years personally about not making things about myself. The media is a terrible influence on all of us as well. The local KZXW news stations did the same **** up through 2022 with trash headlines and stories.

Susie's energy from live at the bike appearances and some photos seems so genuinely positive and full of life and living and love imo. I didn't know her but loved her celebration when she sucked out with AKss on two boards versus Aces. Thank you for sharing that joy with us.

Here is a nice clip of her pawning tool Randall Emmett who actually chose a nice size on his river bluff at 1:30 on a KT74K board where she successfully downbets a pair of nines on the flop and gets the fish pretty good here imo with live reads etc. Looked like a nice fun game thanks to her fun table presence and personality as part of it.

^ Good find. I enjoy watching Susie play, she was definitely a skilled cash game player.

Here is a podcast of her from 2010. Episode 91 on Deuce Plays, she was grinding some of the juiciest cash games in the country.

There was no evidence of this happening and it wasn't mentioned once in the articles or thread... Can't believe you are taking a holier than thou stance against other posters while also making it worse by projecting your own sick fantasy onto the situation.
