I can understand how the dealer screwed this up if she only had six weeks of experience...it's the type of hand that is commonly misread by beginning players, and dealers have a lot of things to simultaneously be thinking about.

What I can't fathom is how the commentators didn't immediately identify it. They are hired for their poker expertise, and at the moment really have nothing to be doing except paying attention to the hand run-out. They are the ones who should be fired.

dealer was in the job for 6+ years

commentary is remote and with huge delay so only person that could do something in that in real time was dealer, remaining players or tournament director

in good tournaments u can see them ( tournament directors) at final table at all times just to ensure those kind of mistakes would be prevented

It's confusing how aside from the players/dealer/camera operators, none of the 15 or so people spectating pointed it out.

The hand is on a gigantic screen next to the table lol.

As, I saw the 6-week training mentioned in the press release and completely glossed over the 6-year part.

But regardless of whether there is a delay or not, how do experienced poker commentators not realize the mistake immediately?

The non English commentators realized the mistake immediately.

English commentary on twitch said it was graphics error which was alarming as well

Humans make mistakes. Totally agree, it is the cover-up and failure to try to correct it that is the real story here

Yeah it was disgusting how they were handling it in the chat. If they weren't timing out and banning people just for asking "wheres Pierre" or "6th place shouldn't of been eliminated" I wouldn't of even noticed anything. Never seen people so dumb about trying to cover something.

If you're on 2+2 Apocalypse_UK2, you should be ashamed of yourself

To be fair, once they see the player getting up immediately and shaking hands with everyone, they probably figured the chances of graphics error are seemingly higher than player error.

At least 2+2 has a good understanding of this situation & knows what's the ethical play here.

Lmao. Twitch and YouTube mods are some of the most pathetic creatures in existence.

“…when you’re here you stop when we say stop.”

Being a mod must be the pinnacle of that guy’s life. He totally runs that chat. Big man.

In a tournament, itís on you to know the rules and object before the next hand starts.

In a cash game they can roll it back.

However to show good faith and make up for the idiotic banning spree they should at least give him something

a lot of companies / managers undervalue customer experience in 2023 sadly :/

Where in cash games will they roll it back if you did not object before the next hand?

What does that have to do with 2023?

If anything, because of exposure / public pressure it's significantly more likely that he's getting something now than it would have been 10+ years ago.

Because it looks like a lot of people who comment on the issue aren't very familiar with live poker tournaments, I'd like to reiterate:
Players/dealers missing split pots is something that has happened before and will happen again. It shouldn't happen, but it does. Ultimately, at least most of the time, if the mistake goes unnoticed before the start of the next hand, the disadvantaged player is out of luck. No matter if it's a 100 chip pot in level 1 or a bust out at the final table.

The TDA rules list a number of player responsibilities. "Knowing the rules" is one of them.

I once dealt a pot where the guy didnít realize he had a winner until many hands later. They asked the guy to give back the pot and he ended up complying after being threatened a ban until he paid up. That was probably the lowlight of my dealing career.

The part where the video, etc. gets deleted really is the lamest part of this. What level of boomer/Xer energy is required to think that in 2023 Ė decades deep into the information age, with screen capturing capabilities, etc. Ė no one will notice?

This part of Brunato's statement is particularly funny to me:

Quote:
I am glad to have it documented on the livestream as it is something that happens very often during the games and is not talked so much about. With this post I want to raise awareness and give official piece of advice to our poker community.
I guess he means, "I am glad to have it documented, because despite our efforts, we couldn't get away with trying to conceal it."

Also, this feels like Rule 13C should be in effect, too. "Dealers cannot kill a properly tabled hand that was obviously the winner." Sure, JT is not a winner, but a co-winner.

Not the first time King's Casino and their dealers couldn't read hands and correctly award pots on a live stream. This one even had the floor standing around.

It wasnít obviously the winner. Nobody at the table thought it was.
