On the other side of the coin I think its pretty obviously the most impactful celebrity signing ever. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree

Kat Williams would have been a better, but I heard he only plays Crazy Pineapple.

Well 32.6 million followers at twitter, 51.4 million at instagram and probably one of the most recognizable actors / comedians in the world so yeah why not?

Is it really about twitter and Instagram though?? IMO the people FTP signed on were a lot more motivating than an American actor would be. Then again most of team FTP are either broke or scammers now.

Motivating? To do what?

FTP signed guys who were famous for playing poker. That obv. doesn't really help if people have no idea who they are because they don't know any poker players. Lots of people from outside of poker know who Kevin Hart is. That's a pretty good thing.

Would be a great signing if Americans could play online.

best move in awhile, the next signing should be Donald Trump, Dwayne "the rock" johnson or Justin Bieber.

Re: Kevin Hart signed with PokerStars WTF??

Maybe it works but I just don't understand why some famous person playing poker will convince others to play and most likely lose money and not even get to play with him.

I would say he is probably only really well known in North America. Fans of his movies/comedy in other countries would know him but the general public probably not as much. Whereas the likes of Ronaldo were probably more well known outside of the US.

Re: Kevin Hart signed with PokerStars WTF??

Maybe PokerStars being illegal in N America is one of the reasons they signed him?

Re: Kevin Hart signed with PokerStars WTF??

I had to google Kevin Hart. No idea who he is but I hope he is learning Russian. Oh yeah. Kevin, uh, congrats on getting money from the 90 per cent of players that every day unknowingly donate to the 'hire an already rich celeb' slush fund.

Re: Kevin Hart signed with PokerStars WTF??

It's a great signing. His Netflix special even had a poker scene as the intro, if the dude likes poker and is famous then it's great for poker, it's certainly better than signing a random slovenian 2/4 grinder or a washed up tv pro or a sports star that doesn't even play poker on a regular basis.

OP thinks signing a "well known poker pro" would be better I guess. What is Chip Jett doing these days?

No wonder they need to cut the player rewards down if they are letting him fire off into the 100ks.

Rumor is they don't think signing him was going to be good for poker but they had a feeling it might annoy you enough to start a thread about it so was worth it for the lolz.

Re: Kevin Hart signed with PokerStars WTF??

They've probably signed him for their NJ site, if he likes poker then that already puts him ahead of the other "celebrities" they've had over the years. Maybe they're hoping to expand into other states and plan to use him for publicity.

Not sure he's all that famous outside of the US, I'd never heard of him anyway.

Re: Kevin Hart signed with PokerStars WTF??

The only thing I've seen him in was 40 year-old virgin, in which he apparently plays "smart tech customer", but I don't remember him.

Obviously people who go to the cinema a lot might recognise the face.

EDIT: If it's for NJ then ok if he's famous there.
