Some very interesting issues are mentioned here that I for one, was unaware of.

Quote:
  • There are fewer women’s tournaments and satellites on PokerStars than there used to be;
  • There is very limited participation by PokerStars Pros in the $55 Women’s Sunday, including many weeks with one or zero Red Spades playing, and the bounty on these players was removed;
  • Perhaps consequently, the field size in the Women’s Sunday tournament has shrunk substantially;
  • The PokerStars Women section of your site seems to be mostly defunct, and this is how it has appeared to me for months:
  • The Women’s Sunday final table write-up no longer exists;
  • The freelance articles for PokerStars Women, which offered up unique perspectives from many different angles, have been cut.

When attracting male clients we use hot females in the wpt etc but yet when any organization wants to attract more females they make it all female events. It's like i have to wonder if women in todays society even like men anymore, ehh. With that said i hope there are less n less female only events.

It's just ignorant to complain about some women tournaments with all the recent changes at pokerstars.

much more important things are happening

There should not be any women's tournaments in internet poker. Live poker needs some help because women may feel intimidated by sitting w/8 other guys. Online sites should employ more females to try and grow the game but the line stops there.

Can't imagine why fewer women enjoy poker with the charming replies above.

What?

People don't need special treatment or coaxing to play poker. If they wanna play they can play.

Well, one can safely assume you don't have a career in acquisition marketing.

+1

Whats next? Women only online sites? GTFO of here with that ****. I can understand if we were talking about physical sports like football but this is ****ing poker. If you don't want to play with men go knit a sweater.

If a man were to have wrote the same thing talking about the lack of male only events all the women would be outraged. Why is it any different just because you have a vagina. If you want to be treated equally stop with all the gender, race, etc specific events.

Better question is why should there be women only tournaments?

In a perfect world, sure.

I'm rather result-oriented when it comes to women's events. If they bring significantly more women into the game, then I'm all for them. If they don't, then I'd rather not have them.

But since I don't know what their overall effect is, I don't know what to think of them.

Interesting point. I'm guessing that Stars didn't create a women's section because of these factors, but rather because it's a standard practice to engage in differentiated marketing.

Intellectually, "PokerStars Women" probably seems as unnecessary as "Neutrogena Men" (and don't get me started on GoGirl energy drink) but if it allows them to build a niche where there previously wasn't one, they're gonna do it.

Yeah, women don't play poker for the money they are here for the blogs and special satellites.

Think of how many women we could get to play poker if only we had a pokerstars female blog.

I agree. Stars put stuff out there, there wasn't much market for it, and now this katie lady is mad over that.

itt men bash a female's opinion about their opinion on female issues in poker and tell them how they're supposed to feel.

Good job, good effort guys!

Well, no. Her point is PokerStars used International Woman's Day as an excuse to move back the 9th Anniversary Sunday Million while otherwise not supporting their PS woman's agenda. Which is completely reasonable as Stars opened the door to this.

The misogyny on display in this thread is exactly why ladies events need to exist.

I don't see why the result should matter.
