Still quite an accomplishment, especially Bonomo NOT busting when running super bad 3handed and then HU at first. Skill on display. And discipline.

Anyone who watched the final 5 hours would say the REALLY crazy thing is how insanely lucky Fedor Holz was at the FT -- especially when 3handed (after his river set double-knockout, obv.) -- the momentum was crazy strong in his favor, at one point he had 70% of chips in play. Bonomo just could not make a pair, or if he did Holz had better or rivered better...

Then a setup hand to get to HU with like a 4:1 chip lead... And even HU Holz momentum continued. So sick.

But then... Bonomo never gave up, after missed flop time and again, vs sticky Holz who rarely had to bluff... Then finally a perfect check-call 3 streets thin by Bonomo, for the steal of momentum and I was pretty sure he would win after that.

But it was solid, VERY WATCHABLE, HU play between two guys at the top of their game... who FYI apprently made a slight "deal" to reduce variance in this swingy game (7mill each and play for the title and remaining 2mill AKA winner got 9mill and runnerup got 7, not 10 and 6.)

But imo well worth watching for those who missed it live.

I was at Top Golf last night and after having been out of the poker scene for a while saw ZeeJustin on TV standing next to a pile of cash. Didn't see any play, but logged back in for the first time in a while to say congrats. Love it when the OGs of 2p2 do well.

Also, pretty much everyone who wins a tourney has some sick hands. Don't hold running good against him. He's a great player and has been for years.

He, like many “OG 2+2ers” stop contributing after they make it. These are the people with the most to teach us and they ditch us like I do to broads I pick up in bars after I get what I want.

This is pretty cool. It's more interesting to me than if Cada won a 2nd Main event.

Lol. He kept posting here for 10 years after 'he made it'.

If you had been around here before BF, you would know why lots of people who were active back then while being super successful, aren't posting anymore.

Retirement still working out well for Fedor it seems..

One glance at how they're talked about and treated on the site, especially in NVG, is enough to know why they become former 2+2ers.

He stopped contributing mostly because of how royally poorly he was treated in the wake of his multiaccounting suspension followed by his poorly thought out apology. Whether that treatment was justified is up to your individual judgment, but I certainly can't blame him for not wanting to be part of the community after that.

Generally speaking, people don't tend to hang out with the people they cheated and lied to after they get busted for it. It's too embarrassing.

True for him an Negreanu, but what about Barry Greenstein, Dean, does Raymer still contribute to strategy? Todd Brunson once posted here. There are many others.

It's funny how he didn't 'even have close to 50%' of himself, so maybe he had 25%? So after taxes he probably pockets a measly milly or so.

Currency is currency. Also the prestige & title & taking out No. 1 on the all time money list is not without its value.

The YouStake.com page has been updated; I made sure to keep the summary page URL copied somewhere, since I noticed early on that it seems YouStake makes that URL hard to find after the event has finished.

Cliffs: payout to each of us was equivalent to about 8.75x our investment.

...now to figure out the dang IRS forms for us first-time-staking Canadians... is it even worth it (sounds like 2-6 month wait to get ITIN, might have to fill out US tax return form to include my other losses in the failed stakes; or just take 70% right away, hmmm...)
