thats right never seen a time with so many scams exposed. Thats fing scarry.
it seems poker players like to investigate and have natural talent to identify hidden leaks . I hope this continues until the poker world becomes somewhat cleaner.

Just follow the money... as long as it pays people will do it. It's not that we poker players are a bad lot, there is cheating wherever there is money - in any/every business, in every sport.

Any publicity is good publicity IMO.

People have a much too idealized vision of live poker in their heads. The fact is poker is poker, whether it be live or online and the game overall is filled with scammers and all types of shady dealings go in live rooms all the time.

1) A few years ago nearly an entire shift was taken away by the police at Planet Hollywood due to a scam involving the falsifying of high hands

2) A Bellagio dealer was arrested for stealing chips from the Big Game. He was caught with one chip in his sleeve; who knows how many he actually took over time?

3) Supervisors and managers get their friends and high tipping regulars into free rolls all the time although they had not earned their entries.

4) In many local casinos, floors often make incorrect rulings in favor of regulars or non-regular locals and tourists all the time

5) I've known rooms with add-on tourneys to give chips to players during break who haven't paid for them. Or give bigger add-ons to those who typically tip well.

And while #'s 1 and 2 are well known incidents, those like 3, 4 and 5 still occur all the time here in Vegas without people knowing. Scams and cheats have always been a part of poker and that will never change. Personally I'll still take the arena in which everything is tracked and while all of the plethora of reports of scandals in online poker may be depressing, at least it's being reported at all. The notion that all things cheating occur online and that everything is on the up and up live is a rather naive one.

The analogous claim would be that all investment bankers are thieves.

Post the front page of the various strategy forums. Yawn.

The "News, Views, and Gossip" of any industry/country/city/internet forum will tend to be the National Enquirer type of stuff.

The status of humanity is in trouble according to your guidelines.

Is raising when the BB is disconnected unethical?
Should I really be "charity folding" to a disconnected BB.
I've had so many suddenly reconnect and shove over my raise that I think it is a strategy they use.

I'll spare us all, but it'll resurface at some point I'm sure.

Does seem like more scams lately, but people are certainly being more public about scams these days too, so who really knows.

The live poker world is the same way. The drug world is the same way. Sports betting is the same way. Business is the same way. By "same way" I just mean there is a lot of money flying around and a lot of people focused on getting a piece of the pie and it seems there exists more opportunity for scams or terrible monetary decisions and the result is more scams happen in these industries.

It's nothing personal with online poker, or inherently bad, it's just what you get in an industry with lots of young people, anonymous reputations being built up over time and lax monetary and security decisions being made.
+1 well said

people just seem to be calling out scammers more often and with a stronger voice, lately

Well I would say only three of those threads are specifically about scams. 4 are a direct result of Black Friday. The rest, whilst not being positive, are pretty standard.
