Just because one is a coach does not mean that one helps people get better.

lots of issues with all this,

is there even that much money left in poker?.. how many people in the world have a reasonable expectation of making over $100k on poker playing in 2021? i'm thinking it's a very small number. like 1000 or something like that.

how many hours is anyone going to buy from a $400 an hour coach? how much more value-added will he be than a $30/hour coach?... i can see a hedge fund manager buying 5 to 10 hours before playing a charity or wsop tourney but that's about it.

doesn't there come a point where you just have to learn yourself? like ben hogan said, "the secrets in the dirt". i.e. just keep hitting balls and figuring it out.

There are players who can make $100-$1000 an hour, if not even more. They're the anomaly of the poker world but they do exist. If a person is making $500 an hour playing poker, it might not be fiscally worth their time to offer poker coaching for less than that hourly rate, so they have to charge a lot. If someone were to ask Tiger Woods for coaching I'm sure his price would be astronomical.

Whether poker coaching is worth that kind of money per hour is really difficult to say. It depends on how much the coach is able to elevate your game and how much you currently make playing poker. Paying thousands of dollars for coaching is probably only worth it to people who are already making a fortune.

I've seen plenty of coaching videos. Some of it is good, sure. But if you're hoping to find the golden elixir from one of these coaches in a 2 hour session you probably will be disappointed. If you were to pay Tiger Woods for a 2 hour coaching session, I'm sure he might give you pointers on your swing. But he's probably not going to be able to show you how to win open tournaments in such a small window of time. Even if you were to train with him for 100 hours it probably wouldn't be enough unless you have it in you to be a great golfer with or without coaching. Same goes for poker, I would imagine.

Doubt anyone’s coaching is +EV for most people at that amount considering the current state of poker and I imagine plenty pay the money to be told to fold A3o in EP. This would be far better off to pay for more volume of a cheaper coach

1000? That is ridiculously high number. It's more like 40-80 people.

To be honest I believe that 90+% of coaching site customers are making negative EV investment when buyng those courses.

Money might also not be a motivating factor for some to coach. It might be worth making less per hour doing something else which makes them happy, or getting rewarded by seeing their coaching helping someone else and seeing the improvements in their game.

One makes on average less than one cent per 100 hands every time one improves on some detail. Other than that, there are the basics for big things that might not cost more than a 100. Experience.

Of course, it's not quite this simple since without the coaching help, you might have gradually been able to fix the leaks anyway. But the point is that a relatively small fee for a very good coach, especially if you're a beginner or intermediate player, can be well worth it.

Precisely why your site is what it is. Two Plus Two books are among the few publications that essentially pay for themselves. Are they as effective as having a one-on-one private coach? Of course not. But the outlay for a book (or series of them) will easily be recouped by improved play or fix leaks.

Money is such an outdated concept anyway, once you have your buyins and travel/living expenses sorted, you can leverage that into borrowing money to fund lifes luxuries.
