Not disagreeing with you but the charge in those cases is usually Driving with suspended license, driving without insurance, etc. When I lived in NY, they'd usually even explicitly say on the arrest report how many suspensions on how many dates, etc.

SR-22 requirements for people convicted of previous DUI's are pretty much standard nationwide. Not sure how often it's required for people with convictions for simple DL suspensions, etc., but my point is when they charge you with anything related to Financial Responsibility, it's usually related in one way or another to SR-22 coverage.

Shocking how dumb people can be.

Yeah, not a good idea to just transfer plates between cars without notifying the DMV. Whoda thunk it?

Someone else may have answered later in the thread with Nevada or even Las Vegas-specific knowledge, but I know that in my State (Texas), if you are the subject of a traffic stop and are subsequently arrested and there is nobody else to drive an otherwise legally drivable vehicle, it will be impounded.

No tags and no insurance may render a vehicle incapable of being driven away by a passenger even if the passenger has a valid license.

And, while not authoritative, I know there have been episodes of Cops in Las Vegas where they towed vehicles with no current tags and no insurance because they could not legally be operated on the public streets.

The X factor here is whether the car could have been released to the valet since it appears this was on private property. And of course if there was other charges (ie. drugs or other non-traffic), then impounding is bound to occur even when the incident occurs on private property...

Different States have different ways of screwing people over on registration fees or other taxes. For as screwed up as Texas is in some regards, we actually get off relatively easy on both of those categories...something like a 6.25% tax on the net transaction value of the original sale and then annual fees of between roughly $45 and $100 depending on age and type of vehicle. Also an annual inspection fee had been getting charged, although the structure is scheduled to change next year when they go to a single sticker system.

Inspection fees vary based on whether you are in an emissions county or a safety-only one...but regardless, those tended to be less than $40 per year.

And i just said that " i didn't understand " it. So stop jumping at people's throat everytime someone makes a legit remarkl about your beloved country. When someone tells me that he doesn't understand why my country does things in xxx way i don't label him as a hater.

And sorry for your but i'm not some patriotic ******* who's saying that the way we do things in my country is better than in the United states. I was just raising a legit concern about how everyone in the US seems obsessed about " race ".
Fair enough, but when you jump to conclusions and attack an entire country, it is not everyone else's responsiblity to know that English isn't your first language, that you didn't get the joke, and that we're not allowed to respond in kind.

I love JRB's attitude here:

Quote:
On his past dealings with Instagram King, Dan Bilzerian:

He staked me for a little bit, and he lost about a million dollars, so he pulled out and that was that.

He’s a little frustrated about when we did business together and it didn’t work out. Now he sees it working out for me and his own buddy who’s doing business with me now.
JRB's so nonchalant about losing a million dollars of someone else's money. And yet the suckers still line up to 'invest' in him.

No, it's very unusual; there are only a couple of states (afaik) that link annual car registration fees to the vehicle's MSRP. The individual states in the USA each set their own tax policy. It's usually a combination of income tax, sales taxes, and property (real estate) taxes. Since Nevada is one of only 7 states that have no income tax whatsoever, plus a relatively low property tax, they get their income with a higher-than-average sales tax plus a tax on automobiles that is collected as part of the annual registration process.
