His post was "cool story, bro".
The edit was me adding the line at the bottom that he was getting an infraction. If I had removed anything from his post for being inappropriate then that info would have been included in the edit. Nothing was removed.

People thought it could somehow be related because the guy jumped into this specific thread just to make his first post in 5 years....and because they know that van der sloot took up poker shortly after getting away with Natalie Holloway apparently ....which also happened to be about 5 years ago.

Inside the prison, the risk of contracting HIV is five to seven times higher than in the streets of Lima. During visit days, an average of 4,000 people enter the facility. They include relatives, friends and salespeople who, through their contacts, help spread infectious diseases among the prison population.

I agree that he's likely to be pretty much screwed in a Lima prison. Just his skin color alone will make things tough on him. His only hope is if his family money is able to somehow secure him something in isolation or mostly away from the rest of the prison population. But my hunch is that they probably can't spare that kind of space or accommodation for just one guy and it's 6 prisoners to a dirty, little cell originally meant for 2 and fun stuff like that.

Not true. The Netherlands has a prisoner agreement with many countries in the world; when a prisoner with the Dutch nationality is caught in a foreign country, the prisoner has a chance to be deported to The Netherlands and gets a sentence by Dutch laws plus (obviously) a better cell and treatment. What also happens a lot is that the Queen of The Netherlands asks the royal family of a certain country to release the prisoners and most of the time they will.

But I don't know if The Netherlands has an agreement with Peru or if Peru has a royal family (Queen or King). If they have an agreement, van der Sloot has a serious chance of getting deported back to The Netherlands. I don't think the Dutch Queen will do anything to get van der Sloot back though, lol.. He's not very popular here (I am Dutch).

Here's an article from today about a recent riot and another from 5 years ago. Both have a few details on what most would predictably speculate it's like as far as the overcrowded and dangerous conditions of the prison system inside this country.

LOL in the second one that the prisoners have their own firearms. WTF?

Have a good time Joran.

Quote:
A violent riot at a prison in Peru, left two prisoners dead and two others injured by gunfire. Inmates kept some guards hostage.
The incident occurred in the Huancas prison at the Peruvian city of Chachapoyas, the death toll was confirmed by the congressman from the northeastern Amazon region, José Maslucán.
About 400 inmates rioted violently. A high level committee headed by the Peruvian Vice Minister of Justice, Gerardo Castro, had to go to the facility to negotiate with the prisoners.
Apparently, the prisoners, who are very dangerous, demanded to speed up their legal proceedings and that the jail is run by the Police and not by the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE).
An inmate of Huanca, in a telephone conversation, reported constant abuse by the prison authorities, physical impairments, psychological, and lack of food.

Feb 9, 2005 - Five die in Peru prison gang riot

At least five inmates have died and 18 have been injured during an armed riot in Peru's largest prison.

The country's prison chief said the flare-up in violence was due to turf wars between rival gangs in the jail.
He admitted that guns and firearms circulated freely inside the prison, and that gangs ran a trade in commodities such as food and alcohol.
More than 8,000 inmates are crammed into the Lurigancho prison, east of the capital, intended to house under 2,000.
The body of at least one inmate was lowered over the prison wall.
"Firearms enter the prison from various sources: negligence, corruption or because of inadequate security at the entrances," Wilfredo Pedraza, head of the country's prisons, told local radio.
"It is a reality that I'm not going to hide."
Mr Pedraza said that after firing tear gas to disperse the inmates, riot police had moved into the prison but were still coming up against pockets of resistance.

No, they don't have queens and kings in South America (at least, I don't think they do).

You are correct that Peru has some of that exchange stuff with some other countries. No idea if they have such a treaty or agreement with the Dutch but I do know they have something like that with the U.S.

Somewhat coincidentally, just a few days ago a kind of well known (for those who were following it) American was just released on parole from her prison stay in Peru. She served 15 years after being accused of helping terrorists down there. Evidently she could have applied to serve her sentence in the U.S. (which might not have been granted, not sure) but opted not to do so. She still has to live in Peru for 5 more years as a condition of her parole and is in an apartment in the same Miraflores district where Joran van der sloot's hotel was (it's a popular and well known district).

I have a strong dislike for people who encourage, accept, or hope-for prison rape. The purpose of our judicial system is to seperate those unfit for society from the civilized... not to seek redemption by stooping to such lows. Such commonplace attitudes highlight the depravity of people.

i reckon his prison experience will be similar to jeffery dahmer's. the sad thing is the corrupt bastards in aruba who let him go the first time wont suffer the same fate.
