Jon Aguiar v WSOP Jon Aguiar v WSOP

Jon Aguiar issued a series of tweets upset about the rule that players at streamed/feature tables have to pronounce their actions. There was a series of confrontations from floor staff during last night's $1,500 PL Hold'em final table.

In their "wisdom", the @WSOP account RT'd (which is still on their timeline) the following from @SHAWNIVEY_OBV:

@JonAguiar @wsop @wsoptd why are you the only one who cries all day every day about everything Adapt and stop sounding like a complete bitch

During all final tables players MUST verbally declare action to enhance the live stream. Personally, don't see the huge fuss but I can see where Jonathan Aguiar and others who disagree with this are coming from.

You agree/disagree with what they're saying here on twitter? Or is this just a non-issue?

Utterly stupid rule.

I think this is a pretty bogus rule. and thats coming from somebody thats plans on watching a lot of these streams.

This isnt the first time the game has been adapted to suit the audience at the cost of the players. It wont be the last either. And there will always be players voicing their opinions.

but lol at whoever is running that twitter account. They should have expected these reactions and handle it more professional

players shouuldnt have to do this, the DEALER should have too. what if a player is bluffing his stack off and doesnt wanna talk to give out a potential tell? he shouldnt have to verbally say"540k!"

What would happen if a player refused to vocalize his actions?

Strange rule, but hardly something that shows the "WSOP is being run into the ground."

Well, at least the WSOP is extremely consistent: Come WSOP-time, you can be 100% sure that there will be reports about something totally stupid that they`ve implemented and pissed off the players... They never disappoint on that one for as far back as I can remember.

In Aguiar's tweets, he claimed that there was no threats on the players not verbalizing actions until after Daniel Negreanu was eliminated. I wasn't observing the stream that carefully in the early going, but Daniel wasn't his usual talkative self for whatever reason.

The three of them should've just stopped and sat there then. Called their bluff. WSOP would've folded like a deck of...well, you know.

They definitely should un-retweet it ASAP, though.

There was point in the tournament 4 handed where the level was about to change and a colour up performed. Jon asked for a 10 minute break so he could make the long trek to the washroom which was denied.

Does WSOP really want to bring piss bottles into the live game now?

Yeah, that retweet is unprofessional. For a very public (72k followers) and supposedly mainstream brand, this makes them look pretty bad.

Jon made that point on the broadcast. He said something along the lines of if Hellmuth was asking there is no way they would refuse.

The people who run/represent the WSOP, (Seth, Jack, etc etc) are incompetent scumbag idiots who will continue to act like douchebags, make a mess of things, and embarrass themselves in the process. Every single summer provides plenty of new folly.

I feel kinda sad saying this, because I've put in so many hours trying to win a bracelet, but the value of the bracelet took a major hit with the Aguiar + no talking at featured table stuff.

In 2004 my thoughts were if you won a bracelet it was ****ing awesome and you're a piece of poker history.

Now it's like, hey congrats you binked a live tournament for six figures, and here's this bracelet on the side. You and hundreds of others have one. Now please go back to playing our tournaments with bad dealers and overpriced food. We will continue to implement things that will make the players upset.

The WSOP is supposed to be my monthlong poker vacation where I sacrifice a little in hourly to attempt to put my name onto something. A good record at the WSOP at the end of the day is like the poker equivalent of the baseball hall of fame or something. Now I don't know if I care about that as much.

Obv gonna grind my face off for the rest of my tournaments this summer, but next summer I might just stay home and enjoy my cheap food and good dealers and higher hourly rate.

Not to mention WSOPE and now Aussie as well. Asia soon. WSOPW(winter) soon enough! Reminds me of the recent X-games expansion.
