Now, pix of wifey?
They mean he is an unlikeable douche. We know he can play.

I took extreme pleasure in set over setting JM in one of the 1500$ wsop events this year early on, AA vs KK. (we were aipf anyway, shocker)

He will take extreme pleasure in knowing that I didn't even mincash, despite the great start. Either way, it felt nice to felt him. Sweet revenge for blocking me on twitter! lol

Chris Ferguson has to hold the permanent "top" spot in this regard. That being said, I find "unsociable" people like Mr. McKeehen generally more interesting than the average bear, and I could not get through all of his interview with Joey Chicago. Just cringeworthy.

I can't speak about whether Joe is a great "poker ambassador" but he seems to be a really nice guy. When my wife ran into him randomly a couple of years ago and said hi he was really friendly, and gracious, and down to earth.
Has anybody had any experiences that contradict that?

Agreed, he's actually a well known wife saluter.
Unless of course your wife is obnoxious in which case he won't say hi

I got married last month, and whilst honeymooning in Vegas I couldn't help but get jealous when I noticed my wife chatting to some guy for quite some time. When I stormed over I actually realised it was JM and he wasn't hitting on her he was just being a genuine nice guy and listening to the wifes boring wedding stories.

I for one salute you Joe, great guy.

Hang on... McKeehen was responsible for warning everyone about PSUMike? I thought it was Gzesh.

Got off work early one Friday and got home to the wife, only to discover her in bed with another man! Right as i'm about to fly off the handle, i take a second look and realize...isn't that Joe McKeehan? They were sharing a pint of Haagen Daaz ice cream and sharing some "girl talk" and gossip. I was impressed, he was doing a great job keeping my wife company while I was away at work!

Afterwards we had a good laugh at the mixup and he ended up treating us to Olive Garden. What a great champion and ambassador of poker.

I love how this thread has turned into trolling ECB about JM not saying hi to his wife.

Gotta be Jerry Yang. Weak player who basically disappeared from the game after taking down his big score. Heinz and Eastgate also retreated from poker after their big success, but at least they seemed like solid players. Moneymaker is a weak player, but a nice guy and a great ambassador. Jamie Gold has taken a lot of stick for his persona and some of the decisions he's made (like getting involved with HSP when he was clearly out of his depth), but to his credit he's at least hung around the scene and gotten a couple big results since his win.

Most of the other winners at least seem decent at the game and have stuck around the scene to play some events. Whether or not they're "good for poker" seems largely irrelevant. I think poker's decline is more related to Black Friday and the game simply losing the novelty that it had when it first went nuclear around 2003-2004.

I think Joe McKheehen is probably the best main event winner, besides maybe Martin Jacobson. Since, winning he has been everywhere making deep runs in large field, mid stake buy in live tourneys. Dude just finished third in Millionaire Maker.

Has anyone else noticed how many of the guys posting support for McKeehen have been banned? Does that say something about the kind of guy McKeehan is?

McKeehan being a good player and wife whisperer (which his results seem to bear out) is different from McKeehan being an ideal candidate to win the only tournament that gets widespread publicity.

That being said, anybody who takes social media with the gravity he does is probably not the coolest cat in the alley.

Worst in terms of likability, being an ambassador for the game, entertaining etc. absolutely. Everyone was pulling against him in 2015. That was by far the worst final table in main event history. Tanking was out of control and I honestly can't remember even 1 interesting hand.

Worst in terms of ability? Of course not. In fact he might be the best in the poker boom era.

Mckeehen always tilted **** out of me idk why. I think it's because he runs good but seems like he is unaware of anything in his immediate surroundings. Not sure how else to explain it.
