Guy who doesn't shower, doesn't tip cocktail waitresses, is extremely arrogant and rude and sets his twitter account to private so very few can read it is the face of the WSOP.

How is this good for poker and more importantly why aren't the higher ups that run the World Series doing anything?

Again think about it, in an age that most high profile poker players tweet regularly, our main event 'champion' blocks his account!! Just disgraceful and embarrassing.

Thoughts?

The answer is no. Chris Ferguson won the ME 16 years ago.

And in b4 lock.

Is there a link to a story about him not tipping cocktail waitresses?

It couldn't hurt right? And besides, people aren't saying he needs to be some golden boy but how do you win a main event and block your twitter account?

It's unfathomable to me and lots of others.

Im ok with him blocking his twitter. Him not wanting to be your or pokers ambassador bugs me much less then people who want to force winners into the role.

How many times a week do you guys think a poker player should shower? Assuming they aren't out exercising or anything 3-4 showers a week should do

Like what? Take his money/title back? Demand that he unblock his Twitter account? What could they possibly do?

i don't think either, that you should force people to do it, but i think it's worrisome, that you have to force them in 1st place.

i like my privacy and boy i would hate to give interviews, but his behaviour reflects what's wrong with so many players. i don't want to sound like an old fart, but it's not about a 2nd boom, it's about winning the most prestigious event (in the eyes of the main stream media) and if you want it or not, you're the in-official king of poker and for at least one year people will recognize you and you should be professional enough to handle it in a better way.

having said that, he is not even close to be the worst me winner in the last 20 years ...

Completely agree

3-4 showers per week is good unless you're grinding hard. In that case, 1-2 showers per week is sufficient if supplemented with baby wipes and cologne.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb, and suggest that him winning the ME was something he intended to be good for him, not good for the rest of us.

But I guess if you supported him and did everything you could to help him win, then, yeah, it kind of sucks that he's dissing you.

Ball on, Balla.

I don't hate on him for not embracing being some ambassador for the game. But, that being said, he comes off like he has little man syndrome. At the slightest needle on Twitter, he goes for the jugular and comes off as a very whiny d-bag. He's not someone I would ever play with and think, "He's pretty chill, hopefully I get to play with him again."

Define worst. I'd say he's a pretty damn good poker player. Personality/ambassador wise? Yeah, seems to be the nut low. But I guess it's his choice. Why he wants to throw that opportunity down the toilet escapes me but it appears he's enjoying his life so..... winner winner chicken dinner?

fairly sure he was a huge twitter troll pre sunrun. why would any of his comments or behaviour surprise anyone - he's just being him. fwiw i like him, i bet on him with 9 left, and showering def overrated - maybe he's an environmentalist and wants to conserve water?

Never supported him but as I mentioned in an earlier thread, when my wife congratulates him and he blows her off, when he gives nothing to hard working waitresses and his nasty attitude I think it's extremely disappointing that when poker is down we have this clown as the main event winner.

Plus the blocking of his twitter feed is outrageous. Maybe there are some young up and coming guys/gals around the world that want to maybe learn or get to know the ME winner and he BLOCKS HIS TWITTER? Disgraceful.

Why? I think he's second best after Moneymaker. I remember how even people outside poker were talking about the amateur who talked pros into doing what he wanted. He was entertaining and very good for poker imo (he's later shananigans and the fact that he was running like god have nothing to do with how it all seemed to the public at that time).

Is there any link or even anecdotal evidence to corroborate the "he doesn't tip waitresses" accusation??

If true, absolutely deplorable.

But I don't see anything supporting that claim other than OP merely stating it.

Never seen someone take it so hard when someone doesn't say hello to their spouse. Epic grudge.
