I'd rather you not include the questions. Nice interview.

Lisandro is absolutely right about not lending money to people. Aside from the fact that you are unlikely to get it back, it makes no sense to lend money to a good poker player unless you are self-defeating and just want the games to be tougher. Just allow these bums to burnout and go busto. What is so hard about that?

Well hard to disagree with Lisandro but why did he vouch for Cantu ? I'll never undesrtand why people are still lending money to known gamblers ... Is it so hard to say no ?

Agree the cutting in and out between reporter and interviewee gets boring, like your style better

I'm sure editing is a time suck , maybe for some key videos a little text graphic of important questions fade in and out as they start to answer

Keep em coming !!

Edit .... If only you knew someone that had any video editing skills !!

I normally feel sorry for hopeless gamblers - but he has had some serious results that if he handled his finances even slightly correctly he would be in a great position. People who have been playing this ******ed game for a long time can only dream of some of the rungood/results hes had. What a ****ing scumbag degenerate imbecile.

In which part of the Rio did this fight allegedly occur?

I was there all evening -- playing cash and walking hallways -- and didn't hear any disturbance, nor anyone talking of a disturbance. "Epic fistfight" probably hyperbole...

Mark Hoke tweeted that he saw it, and he's always parked in the side-hall along Amazon. The one that leads to the back smoking patio.

Yeah but who knows what percentage of himself he had in those tournaments. $4,000,000 sounds great until you start splitting it up.

I have no idea what the terms of this loan was, but saying you are unlikely to get money back if you lend it to a poker player is generally pretty false. I've done countless transactions both ways with money and only been burned once (and being paid back in installments on that one). A good example is say a really good high-stakes game is running but it's 2am you're in vegas and you don't have much cash on you. You ask your friend to loan you money if you win you immediately pay them back if you lose you go to the bank tomorrow and pay them. Obviously some people will do this then disappear the next day, but that's the exception rather than the rule. Also the advice not to lend people money might still be sound (even if there's 1% downside, if you don't ever need the favor returned there's 0% upside so it might be smart to just have a no-lending policy in general), I just wanted to point out how false the statement "you are unlikely to get it back" was.

I would guess most people borrow to pay back another outstanding debt...and the cycle continues.

If you look at his results you see that the vast majority of his scores came between WSOP 2006 and early 2010. His first ever live cash was for 757k back when selling action was less prevalent, and a bunch of his scores happen back to back where presumably a degen like Cantu would keep a lot of himself at least for the second score.

You really have to be an epic donk to dust off as much money as Cantu has.

Winnings does not always equal profit. People can have 20% of themselves; plenty of large buy-ins that didnt cash etc plus horrible life skills with money

Thanks for interview, SS.

Agree with everything Lisandro said about the need to pay off debts etc, but that was pretty non-controversial. The "respect your elders" thing (paraphrasing) is bull**** though. Respect humans for their qualities, not because they notched up a few more years through the genetic lottery.

Idk,prolly been like this for a while.in wsop12 played a ****ty razz qualifier with him. I actually still remember, I was wondering how a guy like cantu can be playing a 350$ sng razz qualifier, like why would he?(was my first time in vegas btw,Im european). But yeah, some ppl told me that hes not doing so well..i actually heard the same of dwan back then also from several People.
Anyway, he was at least nice to me at the table when we talked a bit, but it shows how wrong you can be about Peoples perceived finances.
