In this day and age with health care occasionally costing a million per serious event I would think he'd take a reduced travel sched in lieu of quitting unless he invested in bitcoin or something. Or, maybe he's won $20 million at poker, and kept it all who the hell knows.

Really? You might want to read it again. Nothing in that blog post suggests the plan is "to take care of his family on a few million worth of poker winnings".

Especially not this part:

Just to be clear, I'm not retiring from poker by any means. Not only will I be back at the PCA next year and look forward to playing the PokerStars Player Championship, I still plan to play all the big Florida series events, and as of now I plan to go to Las Vegas for the WSOP this summer.

Perhaps you should improve reading comprehension.

So Somerville & Liv seem likely to be the next to leave based on lack of play.
Somerville has been doing PS live event rerun streams but seems to be moving more towards helping the fight for online poker in the US. I think they would keep him for if/when the shared liquidity thing happens in the US of if another big state enters the market again.

It would seem weird to have Liv leave so soon after Igor signed on.

Sponsorships don't last forever.

Congrats to both Jason and Vanessa. Regardless of why their deals ended they were able to ride the poker wave longer than most. Combined 30 million in tournament cashes. Plus, they got to see the world on someone else's dime.

wowowow DNegs is playing right now for the first time in more than a year. And Moneymaker played yesterday for the first time in a blue moon. Wonder if PS wanted that or they just wanted to make sure they still had an account.

If you cant take care of a family with a few million then you suck at life and have deeper issues than money.

some more players are apparently removed from PS pro list, including Elky, Cody and Horecki, neither Stars nor any of them made any comments about that (though Horecki unofficially confirmed for Polish poker media that he was out of the team)

This doesn't seem like a very productive way to approach life, if happiness is a facet that isn't totally disregarded..

There ARE poker players that err on the side of doing their best to be genuinely good people, some even contribute to society!

Ramos also gone which is surprising seeing as how poker is in Brazil and he's a friend of Neymar.

Add Neil Johnson to the list of departures. Top, top man at EPTs and Pokerstars live events. Liked by all players and a huge asset to any poker organisation or indeed any company.

I wish I had the chance to meet Neil. I wish him the best of luck moving forward and found him to be very receptive to the praise and criticism alike here on the forum.

Agreed. I spoke to him a couple of times at EPT stops and he was really friendly and receptive to ideas and feedback.

As you said, he was also very open-minded and even handed with players. This also came through when Stars got alot of criticism for changing payouts to 18%/20%. (obviously designed to churn and rake more of players' money).

He was on EPT live and acknowledged the new payout structure had some negatives and that he would look into all of the issues. Top man.

A big poker operator should snap him up as soon as they can.
