Best of luck in fatherhood, Jason! This is not the end but a beginning... congrats on the new life experiences!

Aggressive white hetereo sexual men make me uncomfortable.

Good choice to make his family the priority.

Why is it I have a feeling these retirements are all related to the bitcoin boom?

I wish the best for Jason and I hope he has millions of crypto and bets sports just for lols, not for rolls.

Would imagine these players leaving PokerStars are doing so because Stars didn't renew their contracts and PokerStars agree to let them word it in a way that makes it look like it's remotely their decision.

Whilst they have every right to stay on and milk Stars for what they could, the only Pros to have left in recent times that deserve any shred of respect for doing so are Alex Millar and Ike Haxton.

Still, I like JM and wish him well.

I don't disagree, but their lack of appearances lately make it seem to me Jason and especially Vanessa were not trying to keep themselves in the stable.

If I'd had their kind of money I'd have purchased 1000 bitcoin back when it was $40 - $200 but I'm a fool. And a broke one.

Don't forget Vicky Coren-Mitchell. She's the one who broke the mould.

Yeah, Vicky jumped ship as soon as they introduced casino games.

She still deserves a lot of respect for her stance.

Yep, you can add VCM to that list.

Struggling to think of any others.

She also happened to fall pregnant at that time. I'm sure that factored in.

I'm not. I realize it's hard in this day and age to fathom someone willing to make decisions with a moral compass, but come on.

Of course, pregnancy would never be a consideration for a woman deciding on her career path. I'm not saying she wouldn't have made the same decision regardless but it's insane to imagine that facet was totally disregarded.

Also she's a professional poker player so lol @ moral compass.

It doesnt matter what you're sure about. You are just on the sideline speculating. Ill take her written statement on why she's leaving over your 2 sentence assumption. LOL.

Agree with this 100%.

Also, Vicky Coren has remained steadfast in her stance against non-skill based gambling and its proliferation while defending player interests in general.

I don't necessarily agree with all her opinions, but she has consistently communicated views that are in line with her reasons for leaving Amaya/PokerStars back in late 2014.

As for Jason Mercier, congratulations to him on a great run with the world's largest poker site, rubbing elbows with talented people who have put in tireless effort for that company regardless of who's running it, experiencing tons of unforgettable moments in the poker world, and his new family. Best of luck to him as a father, husband and poker pro moving forward.

FYI she´s not and never has been a professional poker player. She´s a journalist and poker has always been a hobby for her.

Jason hadn't played online all year. Vanessa either - although I thought maybe she was playing on PS NJ. Somerville hasn't played in a year although I *think* he stays involved a bit at live PS tournys (or are those all RIU tournys?)

So Somerville & Liv seem likely to be the next to leave based on lack of play.
